20 FEBRUARY, 2015 LION KING MOVES INTO NEW DEN AT FOX FOOTY HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER, FORMER BRISBANE LIONS SUPERSTAR JONATHAN BROWN CHOOSES FOX FOOTY IN 2015 FOX FOOTY today announced that recently retired Brisbane Lions Champion, Jonathan Brown, will swap his playing kit for a commentary suit in 2015 in a massive coup for Australia’s only dedicated AFL channel. The three-time Premiership player joins the game’s leading commentary team after hanging up his playing boots last year. Brown said he’s really excited to be a part of the FOX FOOTY family in 2015. “Making the decision to retire was tough because I absolutely love the game, but being part of a network that is purely AFL, all week long, is the perfect next step for me. “I can’t wait to get stuck into my commentary role and work alongside some of the biggest names and most experienced people in the industry,” Brown said. Known for his bravery and toughness on the field, the 256-game forward has been one of the most respected AFL players throughout his fifteen year career amassing nearly every accolade possible. Director - FOX SPORTS Melbourne and Head of FOX FOOTY channel, Rod Law, said Brown would offer a new level of insight into the teams and players having literally just stepped off the field. “Jonathan Brown is up there with the game’s greatest, and one of the toughest players in the modern era. Fans loved to watch Jonathan and the passion he brought to the game and we’re sure they’ll love his authentic approach and insight.” “Jonathan has always been a brutally honest competitor on the field and we can’t wait to see that same honesty in his role at FOX FOOTY,” Mr Law said. Brown will start his new role as an expert commentator during FOX FOOTY’s NAB Challenge coverage beginning Thursday, February 26 alongside Jason Dunstall, Dermott Brereton, Dwayne Russell and David King. During the 2015 Toyota AFL Premiership Season Brown will become a valuable member of FOX FOOTY’s Friday Night Footy coverage. Brown will also join renowned AFL program ‘On the Couch’, Monday nights at 7.30pm EDT, alongside Gerard Healy and Jason Dunstall, to weigh in on all the big talking points impacting the game. Brown captained the Lions from 2007-2013, winning three Premierships (2001, 2002 and 2003), is a dual All-Australian and Coleman Medallist (2007) and was the club’s leading goal kicker on five occasions. Brown will bolster an unrivalled team of AFL commentators, analysts and journalists at FOX FOOTY which includes Eddie McGuire, Sandy Roberts, Gerard Whately, Dermott Brereton, Jason Dunstall, Mark Ricciuto, Anthony Hudson, David Parkin, Mark Maclure, Tony Shaw, David King, Brad Johnson, Dwayne Russell, Cameron Mooney, Gerard Healy, Danny Frawley, Barry Hall, Ben Dixon, Leigh Colbert, Mark Robinson, Matthew Campbell, Jon Ralph and former teammate Alastair Lynch.
