Jr. is proud to begln his secold I i decade of live theatre for central Illlno~s audiences. Long before Mr. Little opened the Grand Theatre back in 1957, he hoped and planned that someday he would have a theatre where musicals and plays could be presented. He got his first job in professional theatre as an apprentice at the Keene, New Hampsh~re Quality, Value, Service Summer Theatre in 1951 and worked the fwo following summers at the Gateway Mus~cal Playhouse near Atlantic Clt~ After graduation from the ~niversiiyof Mi- for Over 59 Years ami Mr. Little took graduate courses at Colum- bia'univer~it~and The America? Theatre Wing before returning to central Illlnors In the spring of 1957 to look for a theatre location. Not having success locating a suitable theatre in any of the larger cities in downstate Illinois, Mr. Little decided to lease the movie house In his native Sullivan. Since the opening of Brigadoon on July 3, 1957, Mr. Little has pre- sented 100 major productionbboth plays and musicals--featuring many outstandin stars and supporting casts from Broadway, ~olfywood,TV and Opera. The first season ran nine weeks and had an attendance of 8,000. In addit~on to his productions in ullivan, Mr. Little managed the Piccolo Playhouse in Joliet and has had touring productions that have played theatres in Michigan, Ohio and the area. Mr. Little is often asked to open aqd manage other theatres in the midwest, but h~sdevot~on is to The Little Theatre-On The Square and Meet Paul, the friendly operator at its loyal audiences. Mr. Little works year around booking outstandin stars such as June Allyson John Carradine. %eter Palmer, Rose- mary P~Z,Dennis Weaver, Robert Reed, John "THE OLD STORE" Payne, Margaret O'Brien. Julia Mesde, Pat O'Brien Linda Darnell, Marie Wilson. Eddie CADWELL, ILLINOIS Bracken: Joe E. Brown, Marjorie Lord, Margar- et Truman. Last season, in add~tionto supemising all the productions, *I* he ap eared as Mr. Snow in Carousel. Joe Tay- lor fr. in Allegro, Mr. Foley in Never Too ~aieand Michael O'Neill in The Mmn Is ANTIQUES Blue. Guy met his wife, Jerili. when they were both studying theatre at the University of Mi- ami. They have been married thirteen years and "SMITH'S BARN" have .two children. Vanessa. ane eleven. and 225 N. Locust Phone 268-3314 Sean, a c five.
