SUNDAY SERVICE RESOURCES Songs and Hymns
NOTES
It has been our aim to provide a list of readily accessible hymns and songs. Therefore, we have principally quoted songs in the popular “Songs of Fellowship” and “Mission Praise” series. Some songs from other sources, however, were worth including, and we have done so. These books seem to be available at the time of writing through Christian bookshops or via the internet (website addresses given by each book title, below). Where website links are given, they are either to a free source of words (where you might need to register) or an online shop of sheet music (e.g. www.kingswaysongs. com where songs are generally £1.49 each). Grateful thanks to Pete Gunstone, music director at Lee Abbey Devon for his help with compiling this list and suggesting arrangements and resources.
We have categorised these songs to indicate a general level of suitability to the musical resources you might have available to you within your church. Please note that this list is to provide what we hope are helpful guidelines for those planning, rather than de facto judgements on their suitability!
Please honour the songwriters and publishers by ensuring that you have the relevant CCLI license for reproducing words, and the MRL for the sheet music. Please note that not all these songs will be covered by such licenses, and that you will need to make suitable arrangements with the publishers to cover their usage. Thank you.

Creation sings the Father’s song KEITH & KRISTYN GETTY & STUART TOWNEND, 2008 THANKYOU MUSIC Sheet music available from http://www.blessings.com/music/songbooks-and-printed-music.html or Creation sings the Father’s song http://www.christianbook.com/ He calls the sun to wake the dawn And run the course of day, Till evening falls in crimson rays. His fingerprints in flakes of snow, Anthem for A Rocha His breath upon this spinning globe, (Tune: Abbot’s Leigh) He charts the eagle’s flight; Commands the newborn baby’s cry. Great designer, Master Builder; Lord of earth and air and space, Hallelujah! Yours is every star and planet; Let all creation stand and sing: All of life within its place. Hallelujah! Every person in your keeping; Fill the earth with songs of worship; Those of every age and race, Tell the wonders of creation’s King. Gathered in to be your people Through the fullness of your grace. Creation gazed upon his face; The ageless One in time’s embrace; All around us are the symbols Unveiled the Father’s plan of reconciling God and man. Of your greatness and your might; A second Adam walked the earth, Every day we see the signals Whose blameless life would break the curse, In the darkness and the light. Whose death would set us free All the time your power is showing To live with him eternally. What is wrong and what is right; Every moment brings your glory Hallelujah! And your wisdom into sight. Let all creation stand and sing: Hallelujah! Hidden deep within the cosmos Fill the earth with songs of worship; Is the secret of your love; Tell the wonders of creation’s King. Shining out towards your children, Touching earth and heaven above. Creation longs for his return, All creation sings your praises; When Christ shall reign upon the earth; Every creature that can move The bitter wars that rage Knows the strength you give to eagles, Are birth pangs of a coming age. And the beauty of the dove. When he renews the land and sky, All heaven will sing and earth reply The extent of your dominion With one resplendent theme: Is too far for eye to scan; The glories of our God and King! You enfold each phase of history Since the universe began. Hallelujah! You still hold in your deep counsels, Let all creation stand and sing: Though as yet unknown to man, Hallelujah! Everything within the orbit Fill the earth with songs of worship;Of your perfect sovereign plan! Tell the wonders of creation’s King. DAPHNE WARREN © OCTOBER 2005 SUNDAY SERVICE RESOURCES Songs and Hymns
O Lord the Clouds are Gathering Tell me, who made all of creation? (suggested to be sung to Graham Kendrick’s music – see spreadsheet) Tell me, who made all of creation? O Lord, the clouds are gathering, Who designed the wonders of nature? The climate storm unleashed Whose idea was pattern and colour, The seas are rising. Wonderful to see? O Lord, the beauty you have made, Destroyed by selfish greed Everywhere around me, Your world is dying. I can see the hand of God, The evidence surrounds me, Have mercy, Lord, (Men) Have mercy, Lord, (Women) In the greatness of his world. Forgive us, Lord, (Men) Forgive us, Lord, (Women) Everywhere around me, Restore us, Lord, (All) Revive Your church again. I can see the hand of God, Let justice flow (Men) Let justice flow (Women) The evidence surrounds me, Like rivers, (Men) Like rivers, (Women) In the greatness of his world. And righteousness like a never failing stream. (All) Tell me, who made music and laughter? O Lord, as species you have made, Who designed our bodies to start with? To sing your praise are gone Whose idea was thinking and feeling? Their worship silenced; Who gave life to me? O Lord, as drought and famine stalk The weakest try to flee Everywhere around me … From war and violence. Don’t stop looking, don’t stop believing, O Lord, across the earth today God is to be found when you seek him. We reap what we have sown, All creation tells of his glory, Creation groaning, For eternity. Yet, O Lord while precious lives are lost, Our carbon footprint grows Everywhere around me … Our hearts are stony. “ALL THE ASSEMBLY SONGS YOU’LL EVER NEED” (KEVIN MAYHEW) O Lord, we pray your kingdom come, On earth now, as in heaven, We need your healing, O Lord, please change our hearts, our minds, Our lifestyles and our lives, Your grace revealing.
DAVE BOOKLESS, 2006 SUNDAY SERVICE RESOURCES Songs and Hymns
You sustain the tides and seasons, You set the rhythms of the earth. You give us times for work and play and rest to worship you and praise your worth. You are the Lord …
We confess that we have squandered all your gifts, so freely given. Broken, plundered and polluted, Lord, have mercy on your world. You are the Lord …
Yet, we thank you that redemption has begun in Jesus Christ. We pray and work with you in partnership, “May your kingdom come on earth!” You are the Lord …
After last chorus: Thank you, thank you Jesus, By you all things were made. Before your throne we bow the knee, Lord of heaven and earth.
For communion: Thank you, thank you Jesus, You are the Lord of all Creation For giving us new life. You set before us bread and wine, Lord of heaven and earth. You are the Lord of all creation,
You are the Lord of all the earth. LAURIE BURN © OCTOBER 2003 You give us all good things in heaven and earth, richly to enjoy. You shall go out with Joy You made the planets in their orbits, The stars in all their galaxies. You shall go out with joy, You are deeper than the deepest space And be led forth with peace, and yet you care for me. And the mountains and the hills You are the Lord … Shall break forth before you. There’ll be shouts of joy, Your love, it reaches out to heavens, And the trees of the field In your hands, the depths of earth. Shall clap, shall clap their hands. Yours the fragile ecosystems, Finely balanced, full of life. And the trees of the field shall clap their hands (x3) You are the Lord … And you’ll go out with joy. SUNDAY SERVICE RESOURCES Songs and Hymns
But look at what we do To all that God has given As we lay waste the land, And poison the atmosphere Cut down the trees And burn up the oil And pollute the oceans deep.
And the trees of the field now mourn and weep (x 3) And all creation sighs.
So let us work and pray And with God’s help succeed In preserving this world For new generations Then the seas and hills Shall shout again with joy And the trees shall clap their hands.
And the trees of the field shall clap their hands, (x 3) And you’ll go out with joy.
Repeat the first verse at the end.
