Haute Route to ­ 7 Day Trek

Pre Trip Meeting

The group will meet at the guide office in Chamonix Sud the evening before you set off. Your guide will go through the plan for the week, check your equipment and answer any questions that you may have.

Day 1. Le Tour to Albert 1er Hut

We start our trek in Le Tour at the northern end of the Chamonix valley, following a good path to the Albert 1er (2702m) hut. After lunch you will do a session on the glacier, where you will learn how to move safely on glaciated terrain with the aid of ice axe and crampons.

Day 2. Albert 1er Hut to Cabane d’Orny

With an early start on the glacier we will make your way to and then over the Col du Tour 3,281m. From here we cross the magnificent Trient Plateau and descend to the friendly Cabane d’Orny for the night (2831m).

Day 3. Cabane d’Orny to Chanrion Hut

Today we walk down to a small lift station and take the chair lift to the pretty alpine village of (1,480m). A taxi will take us from here to Lac Mauvoisin (1,746m), where we continue walking to the Chanrion hut (2,462m). Day 4. Chanrion Hut to Vignettes Hut

This day involves a long ascent up the beautiful Otemma glacier to the spectacularly situated Vignettes hut (3,160m).

Day 5. Vignettes Hut to Bertol Hut

Today we start by walking down the Piece glacier towards the hamlet of , before ascending towards the Bertol plains and up to the Bertol refuge which is another breathtakingly located mountain hut.

Day 6. Bertol Hut to Schonbielhutte

Leaving the hut we start with a gentle ascent to the Col de la Tete Blanche. From here there is the opportunity to summit the 3700m Tete Blanche. We then navigate the dramatic crevasses of the Stockji glacier before following the faint path to the Schonbielhutte, which offers amazing views of the .

Day 7. Schonbielhutte to Zermatt

This is a short day on mostly grassy and gentle paths. You will arrive in Zermatt with time to explore this lovely town before your taxi arrives to take you back to Chamonix.
