directorGOODSON of operations Steven “Zo” Goodson is in his first season with the Memphis Tigers. Goodson, Memphis’ Di- rector of Operations, has worked with Tubby Smith since he was a student-manager at Kentucky from 2001-05. At Texas Tech, Goodson was the Director of Operations, where he was involved with all facets of the Texas Tech program. He spent the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons as the assistant director of operations and di- rector of player development. His role saw him be in charge of player per- sonnel and player development. He also coordinated team travel, and served as the program’s liaison to various areas within the athletics department. He organized the team’s 2015 foreign tour to Cana- da, where the Red Raiders played four games during a five-day stretch with stops in Montreal, Quebec City, and Otta- wa. He arrived in Lubbock after he served as the special assistant to the head coach for six sea- sons on Tubby Smith’s staff at Minnesota. He was also the graduate assistant to Coach Smith at Kentucky in 2006-07 where he oversaw all aspects of video production and assisted with the operation of the Tubby Smith Basketball Camps. Goodson was a student manager at Ken- tucky from 2001-05, and also worked as a floor coach for the Tubby Smith Basketball Camps. He gained additional experience as an opera- tions intern for USA Basketball each summer from 2002-06 and assisted the Team USA coaching staff that won the gold medal in Turkey at the 2005 World University Games. He graduated with a degree in communica- tions from Kentucky in 2005. He is married to the former Kelly Gerleve of Maple Grove, Minne- sota.

directorLAWSON of player development Former high school coaching standout Keelon Lawson is in his third season with the University of Memphis, and first as Director of Player De- velopment. Lawson spent two seasons with the Tigers as an assistant coach, helping lead the Tigers to a 37-29 record over two seasons. Lawson came to the University of Memphis from Hamilton High School, where he was the head coach from 2003-14. During his 11-season career, he helped guide the 2005- 06 squad to a perfect 39-0 record and the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Asso- ciation (TSSAA) Class AAA State Champion- ship. The undefeated season was the last from the city of Memphis, as the Wildcats finished the season ranked No. 7 in the USA Today Boys Basketball Super 25 poll. For his efforts that -sea son, Lawson was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA), the Memphis Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Coach of the Year, and a fi- nalist for the 2005-06 Black Coaches Association Coach of the Year. His 2013-14 team won the Region 8 Championship, and advanced to the TS- SAA Class AAA state tournament quar- terfinal round, and ended the season with a 27-7 overall record. He also led the team to a 2006-07 District 16 title, and District 16 runner-up finishes in 2004-05 and 2007-08. From 2001-03 he was the head var- sity girls coach at Hamilton High School, and served as assistant women’s basketball coach at LeMoyne-Owen from 1996-98. videoEKANEM and recruiting coordinator Mike Ekanem is beginning his third season on the University of Memphis staff, and the first season as Video and Recruiting- Coor dinator. Ekanem had previously worked as a spe- cial assistant with the men’s basketball pro- gram over the past two seasons. Prior to coming to Memphis, he worked for Louisiana Tech where he was an as- sistant coach in 2013-14, where he was in charge of recruiting, scheduling, camps, and guard development. For the six seasons prior he worked for Spurs Sports and Entertainment as a basketball operations assistant for the , and also Di- rector of Video and Athletic Perfor- mance for the San Antonio Stars. For both organizations, he was in charge of preparation, skill de- velopment, and conditioning. For the Spurs he worked in athletic performance and was an operations assistant. The Spurs won an NBA Cham- pionship in 2007, and the Stars advanced to the WNBA finals in 2008. The Houston, Tex- as, native graduated from Texas Lutheran Uni- versity with a Bachelor’s degree in 2005. He was a four-year letterwinner and an All-Conference player for the Bulldogs, who played professionally in Germany, Ire- land, Romania, and China. Following his playing career, he earned a Master’s degree in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania in 2008, and he holds a certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Associ- ation and National Academy of Sports Med- icine.
