The Beth Smayda Fall/Winter Guide details the many programs offered by the Recreation & Parks Department, White Plains Library, the Youth Bureau, the White Plains Performing Recreation Advisory Arts Center and our community partners. Committee The fall is a great time to enjoy our parks and the City’s many amenities. We John Martin, have exciting special events planned and new initiatives including: White Plains Chairman Night with Knicks, Ballroom Dancing Made Easy, a Fitness Christine Eifler Class Open-House at the White Plains Community Center and a Summer Day Cayne Letizia Charles Morgan Camp Information Fair. Returning favorites include: the award-winning, Great Richard Myers White Plains Camp-Out at Delfino Park on September 19th and the White Plains Nyla Robinson Richard Sanchez Jazz Fest, September 24th – 27th. This year we introduce the first Frightfully Evelyn Santiago Fun Festival & Parade in the downtown on Sunday October 25. Registration for all programs begins four (4) business days following the mailing of the Guide. Online registration begins five (5) business days following the mailing of the guide. All registration fees are payable at the time of registration. Class sizes are limited, so register early! Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, or American Express). Please make checks payable to “The City of White Plains”. Financial assistance may be available to qualified applicants. Federal Income Tax Form 1040 for tax year 2014 or Social Services Eligibility letter must accompany application. No Scholarships available for nonresidents. White Plains Recreation Night with the Join your friends and classmates at the Westchester County Center for a night of basketball and entertainment with the Westchester Knicks, an NBA Development League affiliate of the Knicks. On this special night, City of White Plains youth will be recognized as we cheer on the Knicks in our own section. Half-time entertainment will include a basketball game featuring select players from White Plains. Food, fun and giveaways will equal a great night of basketball fun.

Basketball Travel Teams Beginner Tumbling and Flexibility Program Our Competitive Travel Basketball Teams are gender specific, and determined Children will be introduced to tumbling and have a great time practicing som- by grade. Frightfully Fun Festival & Parade Downtown White Plains is transformed into a Halloween Sunday, October 25, 2-5pm Festival for school age children and their families. Activities includes: pumpkin patch, corn maze, crafts, scary tattoos, storytelling, DJ and magic show. Everyone is invited to showcase their costumes in our parade. Prizes awarded for numerous age groups and categories. Treat bags for all children. Please Note: While most activities are free, there may be a minimal charge for some venues.
