"This is acid?" I say. "Yup," Steve answers. "All you need is one hit - more will blow your tucking mind." "There is no rucking way that one of these pieces of paper will get me stoned," I say. Steve snorts, "It will - trust me." I pop three hits under my tongue. "What the fuck are you doing - you're crazy!" "I'll be fine," I say. "No, you won't." Steve shakes his head as I head toward College Street. Pedestrians turn into cars and I become one of those cars, a red racer. I veer through pedestrian traffic and marvel at how fast I drive. A few minutes later, in front of Kentucky Fried Chicken, my arm turns a strange shade of red. I scratch the arm and it grows redder. Am I bleeding? I can't tell if I'm bleeding or not; I stare and stare at my arm. The sidewalk melts and small green skeletons float to the surface. Vision flicks on and off. "Hey, chick, are you okay?" 1 His teeth look like daggers. I gasp. I'm bleeding. Why can't he see it! "I don't rucking know!" I scream. "Why don't you tell me?" "You tell me!" Am I in a mental asylum? "Am I bleeding?" "What?" Psycho says, inches closer. "I'm Psycho." "Don't fucking come near me - I'm bleeding!" "Okay... you're not rucking bleeding." He wants to fool me, fool me into thinking I'm fine. So I'll never know I'm in the psych ward. He 'sjust said he's psycho! "I know I'm rucking bleeding." "What are you on?" "On?" "What did you take -- what drugs?" He's a cop. I'm going to jail now. "Nothing. I'm fine... just a little bit tired..." "Acid -1 bet it was acid." "Am I bleeding or not?" "Do you have a sitter?" "What?" "A babysitter; someone to watch you.

All rights reserved. Cover Art “Contemplation Before Surgery” Joe Wilder, M.D. October 5, 1920 – July 1, 2003 Joseph Richard Wilder was born in Baltimore on October 5, 1920. He attended Dartmouth College, University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Joseph Wilder, athlete, surgeon, and artist, rose to the top of three professions. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Lacrosse in 1987 and received the Markel Award for cardio-vascular research in 1954. His paintings were exhibited at galleries and museums all over the world, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York and The National Portrait Gallery in Washington.

    Wizardy Herbert and the Mobius Slipknot The excitement in the air was so thick, you could spread it like custard on a crumpet. What a marvelous summer day it was to be a child, whisking through the knee-high rye, bounding over the hills with a smile challenging one’s face to contain it. What a marvelous day it was… for magic! Scampering youths contributed to a gulf of human confetti. It was a surge of robes and floppy hats, broomsticks, mops, even a few dustpans and soap buckets. Giddy young hands clutched wands, scepters, staves, rods, switches, swizzlesticks, batons, and even an uncooked strand of spaghetti here and there. A menagerie of prospective familiars squawked and murmured a generic din of animal noises. The creatures were in various states of being caged, restrained, tame, disease-free, alive, and the opposites of all those things, in many, many permutations. The children had propped up makeshift tables and set kettles to boil, as the lads and lasses were not ones for sparing afternoon tea. The shrill cacophony of whistling kettles and clinking sugar spoons barely overshadowed the racket produced by no less than four dozen impromptu cricket matches. Wicked googlies sliced through the air and laughter, much like, let’s say, an elusive winged golden projectile fluttering about, oh, a field in a fictional magical sport played on brooms. It doesn’t really matter what it’s called. Quid itching to flee pockets and purses was wagered generously on games of skill and chance. Dartboards awaited darts whizzing towards them on trajectories perpendicular to the googlies.
