French and German Cultural Cooperation, 1925-1954 Elana
The Cultivation of Friendship: French and German Cultural Cooperation, 1925-1954 Elana Passman A dissertation submitted to the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of History Chapel Hill 2008 Approved by: Dr. Donald M. Reid Dr. Christopher R. Browning Dr. Konrad H. Jarausch Dr. Alice Kaplan Dr. Lloyd Kramer Dr. Jay M. Smith ©2008 Elana Passman ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT ELANA PASSMAN The Cultivation of Friendship: French and German Cultural Cooperation, 1925-1954 (under the direction of Donald M. Reid) Through a series of case studies of French-German friendship societies, this dissertation investigates the ways in which activists in France and Germany battled the dominant strains of nationalism to overcome their traditional antagonism. It asks how the Germans and the French recast their relationship as “hereditary enemies” to enable them to become partners at the heart of today’s Europe. Looking to the transformative power of civic activism, it examines how journalists, intellectuals, students, industrialists, and priests developed associations and lobbying groups to reconfigure the French-German dynamic through cultural exchanges, bilingual or binational journals, conferences, lectures, exhibits, and charitable ventures. As a study of transnational cultural relations, this dissertation focuses on individual mediators along with the networks and institutions they developed; it also explores the history of the idea of cooperation. Attempts at rapprochement in the interwar period proved remarkably resilient in the face of the prevalent nationalist spirit. While failing to override hostilities and sustain peace, the campaign for cooperation adopted a new face in the misguided shape of collaborationism during the Second World War. -

THE WEST’S DARKEST HOUR THE SITE FOR PRIESTS OF THE 14 WORDS Oasis in the middle of the desert Concerned about the events of this month, I began my work this morning by visiting the main sites of white nationalism. I felt completely dehydrated when I ran into the usual: these guys are bourgeois to the core! Not even with this transitional government that will hand over all power to an anti- white mulatta after the senile man doesn’t run for a second term, do they speak like Aryans. Desperate, in a search engine I typed the words ‘revolution’ and the name of the retired revolutionary writer ‘Michael O’Meara’. I ‘Almost as depressing as came across an oasis in the desert! But O’Meara is not perfect. He said: see the bottom of this page. The Modern West, unlike its Medieval and Ancient counterparts, has shed all sense of tradition, transcendence, and fidelity. White nationalists ignore that so-called ‘human Although he wrote it in 2007, this shows that he was unaware of the real history of Christianity (‘unlike its Medieval and Ancient rights’ are, in the final counterparts…’). -

1 U.S. White Supremacy Groups Key Points
U.S. White Supremacy Groups Key Points: • Some modern white supremacist groups, such as The Base, Hammerskin Nation, and Atomwaffen Division, subscribe to a National Socialist (neo-Nazi) ideology. These groups generally make no effort to hide their overt racist belief that the white race is superior to others. • Other modern white supremacist groups, however, propagate their radical stances under the guise of white ethno-nationalism, which seeks to highlight the distinctiveness––rather than the superiority––of the white identity. Such groups, which include the League of the South and Identity Evropa, usually claim that white identity is under threat from minorities or immigrants that seek to replace its culture, and seek to promote white ethno- nationalism as a legitimate ideology that belongs in mainstream political spheres. • Most modern white supremacist groups eschew violent tactics in favor of using demonstrations and propaganda to sway public opinion and portray their ideologies as legitimate. However, their racial elitist ideologies have nonetheless spurred affiliated individuals to become involved in violent altercations. • White supremacist groups often target youth for recruitment through propaganda campaigns on university campuses and social media platforms. White supremacists have long utilized Internet forums and websites to connect, organize, and propagate their extremist messages. Executive Summary Since the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) first formed in 1865, white supremacist groups in the United States have propagated racism, hatred, and violence. Individuals belonging to these groups have been charged with a range of crimes, including civil rights violations, racketeering, solicitation to commit crimes of violence, firearms and explosives violations, and witness tampering.1 Nonetheless, white supremacist groups––and their extremist ideologies––persist in the United States today. -

British Imperialism in Books from the “Third Reich”
Empire and National Character: British Imperialism in Books from the “Third Reich” Victoria Jane Stiles, MA, MA Thesis submitted to the University of Nottingham for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy July 2015 Abstract This thesis examines the variety of representations and rhetorical deployments of the theme of British Imperialism within books published in the “Third Reich”. The thesis considers these books not only as vehicles for particular ideas and arguments but also as consumer objects and therefore as the product of a series of compromises between the needs of a host of actors, both official and commercial. It further traces the origins of the component parts of these texts via the history of reuse of images and extracts and by identifying earlier examples of particular tropes of “Englishness” and the British Empire. British imperial history was a rich source of material for National Socialist writers and educators to draw on and lent itself to a wide variety of arguments. Britain could be, in turns, a symbol of “Nordic” strength, a civilisation in decline, a natural ally and protector of Germany, or a weak, corrupt, outdated entity, controlled by Germany’s supposed enemies. Drawing on a long tradition of comparing European colonial records, the British Empire was also used as a benchmark for Germany’s former imperial achievements, particularly in moral arguments regarding the treatment of indigenous populations. Through its focus on books, which were less ephemeral than media such as newspaper and magazine articles, radio broadcasts or newsreels, the thesis demonstrates how newer writings sought to recontextualise older material in the light of changing circumstances. -
Identitarian Movement
Identitarian movement The identitarian movement (otherwise known as Identitarianism) is a European and North American[2][3][4][5] white nationalist[5][6][7] movement originating in France. The identitarians began as a youth movement deriving from the French Nouvelle Droite (New Right) Génération Identitaire and the anti-Zionist and National Bolshevik Unité Radicale. Although initially the youth wing of the anti- immigration and nativist Bloc Identitaire, it has taken on its own identity and is largely classified as a separate entity altogether.[8] The movement is a part of the counter-jihad movement,[9] with many in it believing in the white genocide conspiracy theory.[10][11] It also supports the concept of a "Europe of 100 flags".[12] The movement has also been described as being a part of the global alt-right.[13][14][15] Lambda, the symbol of the Identitarian movement; intended to commemorate the Battle of Thermopylae[1] Contents Geography In Europe In North America Links to violence and neo-Nazism References Further reading External links Geography In Europe The main Identitarian youth movement is Génération identitaire in France, a youth wing of the Bloc identitaire party. In Sweden, identitarianism has been promoted by a now inactive organisation Nordiska förbundet which initiated the online encyclopedia Metapedia.[16] It then mobilised a number of "independent activist groups" similar to their French counterparts, among them Reaktion Östergötland and Identitet Väst, who performed a number of political actions, marked by a certain -
White Lies: the Empty Signifier in White Supremacy and the Alt.Right
Chris Knight WHITE LIES: THE EMPTY SIGNIFIER IN WHITE SUPREMACY AND THE ALT.RIGHT The Phenomenology of Whiteness: A Genealogy e begin in darkness. The narrative of whiteness begins in a void, an Wabsence, and myth. In many creation myths, including Genesis and Hesiod’s Theogony, order is wrested from undifferentiated chaos and dark- ness, and order is imposed by a divine enlightenment, a god/monarch who creates light by fiat. “In the beginning . the earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep.” And by creating light, the god/monarch gives meaning and hierarchy to the world. Whiteness, when it is used to describe skin color, emerges in the language from the Dark Ages and from a multiplicity of ethnicities. A “white race” emerges into a proto- enlightenment and a proto-capitalism and into the uses of pigment. One way to deconstruct the notion of white supremacy is to parse the signification of the word “white.” In order to interrogate the politics of melanin we must confront what James Baldwin called “the lie that is whiteness.” We need to situate this signifier, this whiteness, in myth, ontology, aesthetics, metaphor, and ideology. In a more mundane physical description, white enters the world as light which is parsed by a prism that fractures white light into a spectrum – the colors of the rainbow. Each color of the spectrum vibrates on a different wavelength from infrared to ultraviolet. White and black have no wavelength. White contains and reflects all the colors; black absorbs all light and color. -
Was Hitler a Darwinian?

Introduction Several scholars and many religiously conservative thinkers have recently charged that Hitler’s ideas about race and racial struggle derived from the theories of Charles Darwin (1809-1882), either directly or through intermediate sources. So, for example, the historian Richard Weikart, in his book From Darwin to Hitler (2004), maintains: “No matter how crooked the road was from Darwin to Hitler, clearly Darwinism and eugenics smoothed the path for Nazi ideology, especially for the Nazi 1 Richard Weikart, “Was It Immoral for "Expelled" to Connect Darwinism and Nazi Racism?” (http://www.discovery.org/a/5069.) 1 stress on expansion, war, racial struggle, and racial extermination.”2 In a subsequent book, Hitler’s Ethic: The Nazi Pursuit of Evolutionary Progress (2009), Weikart argues that Darwin’s “evolutionary ethics drove him [Hitler] to engage in behavior that the rest of us consider abominable.”3 Other critics have also attempted to forge a strong link between Darwin’s theory and Hitler’s biological notions. -
Far-Right Music and the Use of Internet: Final Conflict and the British National Party Compared1
35 FAR-RIGHT MUSIC AND THE USE OF INTERNET: FINAL CONFLICT AND THE BRITISH NATIONAL PARTY COMPARED1 ANTON SHEKHOVTSOV riting in 1997, David Lyon called it ‘extravagant’ to consider that ‘the Internet portends new kinds of networks and a transformation of society Was we know it’.2 Today, however, it would be banal to proclaim that the internet has already transformed the way we conduct research, studies, business, services, and entertainment. With the rise of cyber-politics, web-based pressure groups, and whistle-blower websites like WikiLeaks, the internet continues to exert increasing influence both on the rulers and the ruled. Although its extensive use has resulted, as one researcher put it, in ‘the reconfiguration of the reality of everyday life and the transformation of the ways in which individuals construct the lifeworld’,3 the internet is nevertheless a medium, and as such it depends heavily on the contents or products created by people. Turning to far-right music on the internet, here we find that it comprises of various websites as well as articles of merchandise. In general, one can find this type of music for free on YouTube videos uploaded by either bands/artists themselves or their fans; Myspace and other social network pages dedicated to individual far-right bands; radio-stations like Skrewdriver Radio4 or 28 Radio;5 or numerous blogs that give links to mp3-albums uploaded – primarily illegally – to various file-sharing web-pages. A number of internet sites, ranging from specialised right-wing mail- order companies like the UK-based Rampage Productions to various online auction/shopping websites like eBay, iTunes or Amazon UK, also sell far-right music, either in physical (CD/DVD) or digital (mp3) form. -
RIGHT-WING TERROR THREAT 1 Blood and Soil
RIGHT-WING TERROR THREAT 1 Blood and Soil: Right-Wing Terrorism Poses an Existential Threat to the United States Benjamin Simonds Nixon Department of Political Science, Rutgers-Camden University PS 435: Counterterrorism Strategies Dr. Michael J. Boyle November 19, 2020 RIGHT-WING TERROR THREAT 2 Abstract Terrorism poses grave threats to the stability of democratic societies. Right-wing terrorists (RWT) are disillusioned by equity in American society and yearn for a pre-civil rights era replete with segregation at the least and forcible removal or genocide of minority racial groups, Muslims, and Jews at most. Their demand for this accelerationist, revolutionary sociogenic shift is influenced by racialist propensities of American history: slavery, eugenics, nativism, racial violence, and discrimination are deep national scars. For RWT, societal privileges afforded to whites are not enough. RWT organizations are planning for and accelerating a breakdown of civil order within the United States. This is so that they can establish white separatist ethnostates, exterminate non-whites, and eliminate equal protection under the law. RWT of the 21st century have replaced their forebears’ Klan robes and brownshirts with coiffed hair, suit jackets, and polished leather shoes. They have swapped epithets for dog whistles. They espouse radical political beliefs in calm tones, peppering their lurid diatribes with hints of pseudoscientific intellectualism and feigned thoughtfulness. This illusory exterior, nonetheless, is bursting with anti-Semitic bile, encouragement of terroristic acts, and a refusal to abide by the rule of law. RWT poses the greatest threat to the United States compared to other types of terrorism because the ubiquity, organic appeal, and historicity of RWT buttresses the ability of these organizations to radicalize white Americans into belief systems beholden to America’s racist, violent past.
