12.45- Lunch 13.45 Members are free to have lunch in ‘Rum and Sugar’ restaurant, in the café in the Museum, in one of the restaurants on West India Quay, take a picnic or spend time in the Museum shop.

13.45- Guided tour – The Isle of Dogs 16.00 Our tour will show the heart of the new Docklands, developed since the early 1980s by the London Docklands Development Corporation. Starting at the magnificent new Crossrail station with its Winter Garden and overlooking the new Billingsgate Market, we will travel on the driver-less from West India Quay, crossing the old West India and Docks, and with a wonderful perspective on everything on ‘the Island’. At the southern tip of the Isle of Dogs is , where we will see the very best view in London of the Royal Naval Hospital in , the view that was painted by Canaletto. In sight of the , we will also see the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, a marvel of underwater engineering. We will return on the Docklands Light Railway, and will stop off and get on again on the route to see the Docks in more detail.

16.00 Tour ends back at the Museum of London Docklands, where there will be a refreshment break

16.30 Depart for Whiteknights (See reverse side of this programme) From the drop off point. There will be a

voluntary collection for the driver if felt appropriate 18.00 Approximate arrival at Whiteknights Dependent on traffic

Whiteknights campus – travelling by car The easiest and most direct route is via the M4 motorway. Leave the motorway at Junction 11. Please note that there have been recent changes to the road layout at the top of the slip road.  When you reach the roundabout at the top of the slip road follow the signs for the University of Reading.  Follow this road and at the first roundabout turn left on to the A327 (Shinfield Road).  Follow this road and go straight through two sets of traffic lights, passing a parade of shops and Leighton Park School.  Please park in Car park 7, Soil Science, in the reserved spaces and head for Chancellors Way where you will see a Stewarts coach parked. You will be returned to the same place.
