WELSH TOWNS: PONTYPRIDD Monday, February 6, BBC One Wales, 7.30pm

Pontypridd is the first port of call in this new series, as Eddie Butler takes a whistle-stop tour through the chequered past of four of Wales’s most important towns and cities.

Though only around 250 years old, Pontypridd can lay claim to a number of impressive achievements - it had the longest single span stone bridge in Europe, a title it took from Venice’s Rialto when completed in 1756; was the site of the Brown Lenox chainworks whose output lifted the anchors of great ships across the world; and was the home of Evan and James James, composers of what became the Welsh National Anthem.

Once just a stepping stone to somewhere else - the area was the crossing place for pilgrims en route to Penrhys in the middle ages - Ponty has more than made up for its late start, giving the world Groggs, and of course its most famous son, singer Tom Jones.

POBOL Y CWM Llun-Gwener, Chwefror 6-10, BBC Cymru ar S4C, 8pm Monday-Friday, February 6-10, BBC Wales on S4C, 8pm bbc.co.uk/pobolycwm

Fel ysgutor i ewyllys Denzil, Meic sy’n gyfrifol am ddarllen yr ewyllys ac mae syndod i bawb ar y gorwel. I brofi fod Denzil wedi colli pob ffydd yn ei ferch, sicrhaodd nad oedd Sioned i etifeddu dim ar ei ôl gan adael y cyfan i Eileen, Eifion a Cadno. Mae’n ymddangos mai dyma ffordd Denzil o ddal dig o du hwnt i’r bedd. Ond mae’r siom yn sbarduno Sioned i brofi, iddi hi ei hun a’i theulu, nad dyma’r gwirionedd, ac mae am ddangos edifeirwch.

Wedi rhoi pryd o dafod i Ffion yn gyhoeddus, teimla Hywel yn euog. Gan deimlo cyfrifoldeb tuag at ei gyn-wraig, mae Hywel yn aros dros nos yng Nghysgod y Glyn i sicrhau bod Ffion yn iawn, ond lle mae hyn yn gadael Gaynor?

Mae dyhead Gethin i gael babi yn rhoi Sheryl mewn lle cas, wrth iddo ddefnyddio Wil mewn ymgais i fod yn dad. Ond nid yw Sheryl yn gwerthfawrogi hyn o gwbl ac yn gwneud hyn yn hollol glir. Mae galwadau ffôn dirgel Gethin yn dechrau peri gofid.

 As executor to Denzil’s estate, Meic is responsible for reading the will and there is a shock in store. As a result of his complete lack of faith in his daughter, Denzil had written Sioned out of his will and has left everything to Eileen, Eifon and Cadno. Sioned can’t argue and accepts that this is justice. She must now prove herself not only to the family, but to the memory of her father, and make a success of her life.

Hywel humiliates Ffion publicly, but soon regrets his words. Feeling responsible for his ex-wife in her hour of need, he stays overnight at her flat to make sure she’s okay. But where does this leave Gaynor?

Gethin’s desire to have a baby is forcing Sheryl into a corner and he starts to use Wil in his quest to become a father. But Sheryl doesn’t appreciate being manipulated and sets him straight. Gethin’s suspicious phone calls are beginning to cause concern.
