Revd John Longuet-Higgins for the West of Severn Benefice: consisting of Ashleworth, Corse, Maisemore, Hartpury, Hasfield, Staunton and Tirley.

“Welcome…” Vicar’s Bit: Revd John Longuet-Higgins

Welcome to our Benefice, Steve, Debbie, Robert and Hannah Godsell. We hope many who read this have been at Gloucester Cathedral 10.15am on July 1st for Steve’s ordination as Deacon, and afterwards to the “Bring and Share lunch” at Corse and Staunton Village Hall. It is a great privilege to witness the moment Steve begins his new life as a minister in the Church of England. And this is a new beginning for Debbie too. She is starting a new career as a music teacher, working from home.

Their home is a church Rectory at Drybrook. This is because, despite six months looking, a suitable rented house for a curate was not found. Please pray for Steve as he travels to us each day.

We want to continue to welcome Steve by holding for him several meetings with groups of parishioners in the first few weeks. We also have planned several school events (with a World Cup theme) in our schools.

In July, with the Local Ministry Team, we shall be planning a succession of family services in August and September. We are contacting all those who had a child baptised in the last five years and inviting them to several forthcoming family services and summer social events.

In a sense, our welcome is offered twice over: to the Godsell family, and with them, secondly, to families we want to get to know better. Please pray that our welcome is warm and TOWN STREET FARM attractive.

Tirley At the end of August Sam Johnson will be on placement with us from a theological college in Durham (he will stay at the Rectory). Amongst other things Sam will be taking part in a holiday club we  STAUNTON CROSS GARAGE are running, with other local churches, at Newent Secondary Tel. 01452 840201 or 840077 School.
