To Know Her Is To Fear Her Episode 5 - The Knights of Wundagore Transcript Notes: 1. Reproduced to the best of my ability. A podcast of this nature has a fair amount of cross chatter, so it will not always be completely possible to know what one person is saying while someone else is saying something else, but any time I can’t be certain, I’ll note it with an asterisk * or *couldn’t parse/garbled* 2. I have made minor edits to the flow of speech to remove verbal pauses (uh, like, um, etc.) or repeated phrases/words unless it seemed like they were necessary to what was being said, and have tried to make it as readable as possible without removing the context of what was being said. 3. As a result of 1 and 2, anything in this transcript is not necessarily a direct quotation from Rey, Seren, or anyone else heard, though it attempts to retain the context and information being delivered. ~Rick, volunteer and fellow Spider-Baby Voices Heard: Rey (host of TKHITFH) Seren (host of TKHITFH) Phil (listener feedback) INTRO: Karla Pacheco: Hi, I’m Karla Pacheco, writer of the all new Spider-Woman series from Marvel. Pere Pérez: I’m Pere Pérez, the artist of Spider-Woman. Karla: And you’re listening to “To Know Her Is To Fear Her.” Pere: Spider-Woman’s #1 podcast. INTRO MUSIC PLAYS Rey: Yes, welcome back, Spider-Babies! You are listening to “To Know Her Is To Fear Her,” a Spider-Woman podcast. You are joined by your two Spider-Baby hosts. I’m one of them, Rey, and with me as always is Seren. Seren, how you going? Seren: I’ve had a very eventful week and I’m very tired. Rey: Yeah. Seren: [chuckles] Rey: Of course, far out. For sure, how did it go? How did the move go, by the way? Seren: Um, if I ever have to move this mattress that I have again, it’ll be far too soon. Rey: [laughs] Oh gosh. Oh no. I know the pains that come with moving. Full credit, you must be absolutely glad that it is over. Seren: Oh, it’s not over yet, I still have a couple other things to get out there, but it’s fine. It’s not quite over yet. I have unpacking and sorting to do. Rey: Yes. Unboxing stuff, fair enough. Did the comics make it okay? No damage? Seren: No damage to the comics, they were fine. The sheer amount of comics I found, ‘cause apparently I haven’t bagged and boarded in a long time. I found a lot of unbagged and unboarded comics, so I had to bag and board to transport them. So yeah, I need to be a bit more religious on my bagging and boarding. At least all my Spider-Woman and Captain Marvel comics were already put away. But a lot of my other ones weren’t, so I was like, “oh I fell really behind.” Rey: Well, at least it’s forced you to bag and board them. Nice and neat now, everything’s in order. Seren: Well… I gotta sort them, but that’s a project for another day. Another year maybe. [chuckles] Rey: Yeah, that’s an ongoing thing. Anyway, Spider-Babies, we are here, we are looking at a brand new arc this episode. We’re looking at Spider-Woman Volume 7 Issue 6. Of course by that awesome team of Karla Pacheco and Pere Pérez. So this’ll be a fun one. Seren, a new start so to speak, obviously. Though carrying on from the first five issues. Seren: Yes. The start of a new arc. I really consider this more like a filler issue, but we’ll see if that’s right or not. Rey: Okay. Seren: I guess not really, but in some ways it is. I don’t know, there’s a lot of setup in this book I feel like. Rey: Well, that’s what I was about to say. It’s very much a setup for me. You kinda look at issue 1 getting the wheels in motion. We’ll get into all of that, of course. There’s plenty to unpack. We’ll have our, as usual, notes, our discussions, our tinfoil hat segment courtesy of Seren. Seren: [laughs] Rey: We’ve got to Spider-Score this as well. Before any of that, Seren, though there’s not much news as you mentioned. It’s a bit quiet on the western front, there. Seren: Yeah, nothing really exciting going on. Rey: But we do have some news for our show. Seren: Yes we do! It’s very exciting. Rey: Basically, Spider-Babies, we have heard your call. [laughs] We have responded. You know, Seren and I always came to talk Jessica Drew and Spider-Woman. So what we thought we will try is slip in a second episode in the month. So hopefully we can carrying forward be--is it bi-weekly or bi-monthly? I can’t remember how they term it. It’s two episodes a month. Seren: That would be bi-monthly I think? Bi-weekly would be twice a week, bi-monthly is twice a month? Rey: Okay, yeah, bi-monthly. That sounds about right. Seren: [laughs] Rey: We’ll be bi-monthly. We’ll still have our reviews and discussions on the latest and greatest comic books. We’re gonna slip in a second episode which will come around the middle of the month. Seren, we usually release towards the end of the month. Seren: Yeah. Rey: And these could be on anything. We spoke about it before as well, didn’t we? About potential of talking about the origin. Seren: Yeah, so much we can talk about. Rey: There is, yeah. It gives us a little more wiggle room to talk about stuff. Seren: And if there’s a particular topic you’d like us to cover, send us an e-mail. We would love to hear what you would like us to discuss! We will discuss it if we can fit it in. Rey: Absolutely, we’d be more than happy to bounce around. Whether it’s the more classic runs or the more modern runs. Anything. Again Seren, we were talking about video games or the toys/action figures. I’d love to get into all that sort of stuff. And of course the upcoming movie. There’s plenty to digest. Seren: There is! [pause] I totally forgot what I was gonna say, so keep going. [laughs] Rey: Sorry. [laughs] So what we do have planned, actually, and to kick us off, this will be coming in mid-December. We have quite a little mini-episode by one of our fellow Spider-Babies. Our UK correspondent, Guy Etchells. Guy’s been in and around the chats of our group and our discussions. A very big Spider-Woman fan. Anyway, we thought we’d kick off these second extra episodes with a little “get to know Guy.” So we’ve kind of asked Guy to describe how he came about following Spider-Woman. It was an interesting listen, I mean we both had a little bit of a sneak peek at it, Seren. Seren: Yes, it was definitely worth the listen! Rey: Mhm, mhm. So that will be coming in mid-December. And then we’ll follow, of course, with our usual comic book discussions. That would be Spider-Woman 7 by then. THE issue 7, if we’re to get into it. Seren: It’s already infamous! [both laugh] Rey: I know. So that’s something to look forward to. As Seren said, you know if you want us to discuss anything. We’ve got healthy discussions on Discord as well. Seren: Yes. Please find us on Discord and Twitter. You can find our link to the Discord chat on Twitter. Our pinned tweet is a thread, so it’s the second post in the thread. Please join us, tell us a little about yourself. We love talking Spider-Woman and tinfoil hats and all sorts of things. Rey: [laughs] Seren: We kind of fell out of it because life got in the way, but we are doing viewings of the Spider-Woman cartoon from 1979. It’s on Disney+. We need to do episode 3. Rey: Ah, yes. Seren: We’ll get there. I haven’t decided when we’re doing it yet, but we will definitely get there. Rey: Is that the mummy one yet? I can’t remember. Seren: No, the mummy is the first episode, which. [laughs] Rey: Oh was it? I can’t remember. Seren: I think the fourth and fifth are Kingpin. The third one is the Amazons, I think. [laughs] They’re fun. Rey: Oh, that’s right. Which is just as crazy. Seren: The whole series is just nuts. It’s so great, I love it. Rey: [laughs] Seren: So yeah, we’ll be doing that. And you know, Spider-Babies, back during our interview with Karla Pacheco, we did do a giveaway. You just had to e-mail us and tell us why you love Jessica Drew. … But no one… really talked to me? Rey: Oh no! Seren: I have comics to give away! You can get issues 1 through 5. Rey: Come on, Spider-Babies. I’m sure there are plenty out there. Seren: You can also get--someone else can also get a collected edition of the New Duds arc of Spider-Woman by Dennis Hallum.
