Glavna naloga diplomskega dela je podrobna analiza in primerjava med posameznimi distribucijami, tako s tehničnega oziroma strokovnega vidika, kot z vidika končnega uporabnika. Obravnava tudi posamezne tipe namizij oziroma grafičnih vmesnikov Linux okolja in nabor privzetih aplikacij v posameznih distribucijah. The main task is to make the detailed analysis of each distribution and the comparison between them from tehnical point of view and also from end-user perspective. The thesis sumarizes characteristics of all the desktop environments or graphic user interfaces (GUI) of Linux environment and all of the default applications in separate distributions. Srečamo jih povsod in si življenja brez njih skoraj ne moremo več predstavljati. Za praktično uporabo osebnega računalnika potrebujemo ustrezno programsko opremo, ki omogoča praktično uporabnost in strojni opremi računalnika doda uporabno vrednost. Govorimo o operacijskih sistemih, brez katerih osebni računalniki ne bi bili uporabni. Operacijski sistem v splošnem predstavlja okolje za zagon programov in služi kot posrednik med strojno opremo računalnika in uporabnikom. Skozi zgodovino je bilo razvitih že več operacijskih sistemov. V začetku je interakcija uporabnika z računalnikom potekala z uporabniškim vmesnikom sestavljenim iz ukazne vrstice (ang. command line). Eden bolj znanih primerov takšne interakcije je bil MS-DOS. Z vedno večjimi zahtevami pri uporabi računalnika, kot orodja v vsakdanjem življenju, je nastala tudi potreba po bolj izpopolnjenem in intuitivnem grafičnem vmesniku. Tako so nastali operacijski sistemi z grafičnim uporabniškim vmesnikom, ki so uporabniku olajšali delo in tako približali delo z računalniki tudi manj veščim uporabnikom. Najpopularnejši in uporabnikom najbolj znan je operacijski sistem Microsoft Windows. Obstaja pa tudi nabor drugih operacijskih sistemov npr. operacijska sistema OS X (Apple) in Linux [30]. Največji tržni delež na področju razširjenosti operacijskih sistemov

Using the example for Adwaita mate-appearance-properties gives, I believe this is the "Proper" way to fix it, so do the following in order; The quick and dirty way when using it Select Adwaita theme Click on Customise Select the Window Border tab Select window border theme "TraditionalOk" and close A Permanent Fix to the Adwaita missing its Theme Manager using terminal / console I found that all I had to do to resolve the issue permanently was to do this; vim /usr/share/themes/Adwaita/index.theme And change at the bottom where it says MetacityTheme to say TraditionalOk instead of Adwaita.
