SELL YOUR HAMETZ! with Rabbi Jonathan Kremer

When you sell your hametz before Passover, you fulfill the Biblical mitzvah to be hametz-free during the festi- val.

If you have a pet and are concerned about feeding it hametz during Passover, Jewish law allows you to “sell” your pet along with your hametz. (Please be sure to keep the dog food and bowl well away from your Passover dishes and foods!) You can use the form below to “sell” your pet and make an optional contribution to the Humane Society of Atlantic County in any amount you wish. (Alternatively, you may purchase hametz-free pet food.)

Optional donations for ma’ot hittim (literally, coins for wheats; figuratively, funds for food) will go to the JFS Food Pantry; pet donations to the Humane Society of Atlantic County.

Return this form before March 24!

I, , hereby authorize Rabbi Jonathan Kremer to act in my place and stead, and in my behalf to dispose of all hametz, as defined by Torah and Rabbinic law, that may be in my possession at home, in place of business or elsewhere, in accordance with the requirements of Jewish law. Likewise, if applicable, my pet(s) will be “sold” with my hametz. This contract will be in effect from Friday, March 26, 2021, at 10:00 AM, to Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 8:10 PM.

Optional: Enclosed is a contribution of $ (payable to JFS or Shirat Hayam) for ma’ot hittim.

Optional: Enclosed is a contribution of $ (payable to Atlantic County Humane Society) re- garding my pet/s (please list pet/s by name):
