RADIUS MAP NOTIFICATION INSTRUCTION SHEET

A Notice of Public Hearing is required by law to be sent to all property owners lying within a radius of 500 feet from the project site. The noticing is done in advance of the public hearing by the Community Development Department with materials furnished by the applicant at the initial time of submittal. The notification materials to be furnished by the applicant include the following:

I. A radius map showing the project location and all lots lying within a 500-foot radius from the project site.

II. Original address label sheets (one set, 8 ½" X 11" format). In addition to surrounding owners, labels shall include name and addresses for the applicant, applicant’s representative and any other persons the applicant wishes to be notified of the hearing.

III. Address labels- one set (City to attach to envelope) plus one copy of labels.

IV. A Certified Property Owner’s List Affidavit shall accompany the above the material upon submittal (attached).

The applicant has the option of either personally preparing the legal noticing materials or engaging the services of a radius map consultant (see attached consultant list). Instructions for preparing the required materials are as follows:

Radius Map:

1. Obtain a map of the (scale: 1" = 300') to be used as the base for the radius map.

2. Indicate the project site by highlighting or outlining around the lot(s) on the map.

3. Draw a that is a of 500' from the exterior boundaries of the subject property.

1. Secure the required County Assessor's Maps covering the affected property and all lands within 500 feet thereof. (Available at the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office, 24330 Narbonne Ave. Lomita, CA 90717, (310) 534-6100.

2. Using the Assessor's property owner roll, to the correct map book number, then page number, and then parcel number for all parcels lying within the 500- foot radius. A sample of the page configuration is shown below. The name and address of the property owner is shown at the left hand column. If the mailing address of the property owner is different from the property owner situs address use the alternate (mail) address which appears in the far right hand column. See the following example:

3. Using self-sticking 8 ½" X 11" address label sheets, type or print in the appropriate spaces the Assessor's Book Number, Page Number, and Parcel Number of all parcels, any portion of which lies within the 500' radius, as shown by the example below.
