While we’re always amazed at the level of engagement our readers exhibit in attending webinars, downloading white papers, commenting on stories and opening and reading our daily newsletter, we were frankly unprepared for the response we received when we asked readers to provide us with a lesson learned over the past 12 months. Over 600 of you took the time to write paragraphs and articles with your lessons learned, sharing your ups and downs involved in implementing or continuing environmental, energy and sustainability programs. As the responses came flooding in, it quickly became apparent that we were going to have to disappoint a large number of you who took the time to send us your responses.

Maazel began his tenure as the Philharmonic’s new Music Director in September, and already has put his stamp of authority on the playing of the orchestra. Indeed he and the Philharmonic were rapturously received wherever they performed on a recent tour of the Far East. Celebrating the New Year with music is nothing new for Maazel: he holds the modern record for most appearances as conductor of the celebrated New Year’s Day concerts in Vienna by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. There, of course, the fare is made up mostly of music by the waltzing Johann Strauss family, father and sons. For his New Year’s Eve concert with the New York Philharmonic Maazel has chosen quintessentially American music by the composer considered by many to be America’s closest equivalent to the Strausses, George Gershwin.

  • John Lennon – Człowiek I Artysta Niespełniony?
Tom 12/2020, ss. 43-72 ISSN 0860-5637 e-ISSN 2657-7704 DOI: 10.19251/rtnp/2020.12(3) www.rtnp.mazowiecka.edu.pl Andrzej Dorobek Mazowiecka Uczelnia Publiczna w Płocku ORCID: 0000-0002-5102-5182 JOHN LENNON – CZŁOWIEK I ARTYSTA NIESPEŁNIONY? JOHN LENNON: A MAN AND ARTIST UNFULFIILLED? Słowa kluczowe: kompleks, trauma, dominacja, „krzyk pierwotny”, gwiaz- dorstwo, artyzm, niespełnienie Summary: In this essay, the author attempts at a synthetic insight into the biography of John Lennon, both as a confused genius of popular music and a victim of the childhood complex of motherly neglect: later transformed into the one of female domination and transferred onto Yoko Ono, his second wife and avant-garde “muse.” Consequently, their marriage, largely idealized by media, is shown here in the context of Lennon’s relations with other women (mainly his mother and aunt Mimi), his contradictory psychological traits and artistic/ ideological evolution that resulted in being torn between pop superstardom, avant-garde artistry and, in last five years, virtual creative impotence.
