School Description: Cristo Rey Jesuit High School serves and educates under-resourced students and families in the Jesuit tradition as a Catholic, College and Career preparatory school. We serve students and families to and through college. The school, first opened in August of 2007, serves 500 students in grades nine through twelve and approximately 400 graduates in college each year.

All students are required to complete a standards based promotion, literacy and numeracy first, college preparatory curriculum and participate in the Corporate Work Study Program whereby each student works five days per month in a corporate work assignment. Cristo Rey Jesuit High School is a member of the Cristo Rey Network of 32 high schools around the United States that subscribe to similar demographic, academic, and work study program guidelines [CristoReyNetwork.org]. We are also a member of the Jesuit Schools Network made up of Jesuit secondary schools across North America whose mission is to sustain the Ignatian vision and Jesuit mission of educational excellence and the service of others.

Vision: The Principal is the chief academic officer of the school, responsible for leadership of all aspects of the educational program and a positive learning environment. The Principal collaborates with the Leadership Team in directing the daily operation of the school and creating a culture of respect and achievement by fostering collaboration, teamwork, and communication throughout all academic departments.

Qualifications:  Preferred: o Licensed to teach in the state of Minnesota. o Master's Degree in Education or content area. o Ability to speak Spanish, Hmong or Somali. o Prior successful inner-city high school teaching experience. o Prior successful inner-city high school leadership experience. o Practicing Catholic  Required: o Be a competent team player and have the ability to collaborate with his or her peers in a standards based promotion academic environment. o Able to teach subject appropriate course(s) reflective of areas of expertise and teaching experience. o Be competent in monitoring student academic performance/tracking student progress and assisting students to achieve above the school’s minimum expectations. o Be competent in designing and implementing curricula to serve a student population diverse in culture, religion and ability, as well as having a varying aptitude for the concepts of a core discipline. o Be persons of faith with a thorough understanding of, and commitment to, the educational mission of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, the Society of Jesus and the Cristo Rey Network. o Able to complete Virtus training, sign a Code of Conduct and pass a background check.

Specific Responsibilities: . Serves as a member of the "Leadership Team". Together, with the president, this team is responsible for implementing the overall mission and culture of the school in fidelity with the Cristo Rey Network Mission Effectiveness Standards and the Standards and Benchmarks for Jesuit Schools in the 21st Century.

. Oversees the design and implementation of the educational programs of the school with special attention to curriculum, pedagogy, and evidenced based instructional strategies. In addition, together with the Director of CWSP, integrates work study with the learning programs.

. Directs the recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, and retention of the assistant principal, deans, faculty, other instructional staff who are best suited to the mission and identity of the school

. Recommends hiring, retention, and compensation for assistant principal, deans, faculty, and other instructional staff.

. Provides leadership for the development and evaluation of the academic curriculum, including new course development.

. Provides leadership for a research-based professional development program intended to maximize student achievement.

. Ensures the appropriate use of instructional technology and its integration within the academic curriculum.

. Oversees the purchase and inventory of all textbooks and instructional materials, including technology.

. Develops and recommends the annual budget for Academic curricular operations.

. Oversees the process of academic reporting and recording, including grade reports, transcripts, permanent records, quarterly progress reports, student-parent-teacher conferences, and academic awards and recognition.

. Oversees summer academic enrichment and/or remediation programs currently defined as Summer School and Bridge.

. Oversees the development and maintenance of school accreditation with the identified national/state accrediting agency (AdvancED).

. Collaborates actively with and represents the school at meetings with the Midwest Province of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuit Schools Network, the Cristo Rey Network, the Archdiocese of St Paul and Minneapolis and colleague principals.

. Coordinates standardized testing (SAT, ACT, Advance Placement, New Student Assessments, etc.)

. Together with Director of Admissions and the Executive Director of CWSP develops and recommends admissions criteria for new students.

. Supervises student behavior and discipline within the school. Collaborates with the Executive Director of CWSP in administering the overall discipline program.

. Other responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the president.
