National Library Week April 8 - 14 General Celebrate National Library Week by attending a program, checking out a book, 2 or using our computers. Please take a moment to tell us what you love about the library by filling out a comment card. We hope you’ll join us for coffee and Friends donuts on Wednesday, April 11 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. All week there will be 3 an opportunity to enter a free drawing for a chance to win a gorgeous gift basket. One entry per person, please. Families 4 Join us at Discover Tinley on April 14 Youth The library will have plenty to share with the community at Discover Tinley on 5 Saturday, April 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Tinley Park Convention Center. Stop by our booth, show us your Tinley Park library card, and receive an entry for a free Teens drawing to win a great prize basket. Bring your toughest questions for the “Stump the 6 Librarian” contest and make sure to save time for the kids to take a break in our Kids Korner. Saturday, April 28 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Bring a maximum of two standard-sized paper boxes filled with your sensitive papers (bank statements, bills, etc.) to the shredding truck in Monday – Friday the library’s east parking lot. Shredding representatives will remove the 9:00 am – 9:00 pm boxes from your car, take them to the shredding truck, and shred them Saturday on site. 9:00 am – 5:00 pm The shredder ACCEPTS papers, file folders, envelopes, continuous Sunday forms, and stationery. noon – 5:00 pm PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT any of the following items: CD-ROMs, plastics, Closed: plastic bags, metals, trash, three-ring binders, diskettes, magnetic media, hazardous Friday, March 16 waste, medical waste, or hardcover books. We offer a professional version of Ancestry.com (accessible in Richard Wolff the library only) for looking up census data, military records, church and land records, passenger lists, and more.
