Xavier made its fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament after earning the league’s automatic bid and entered the event as the No. 3 seed – the highest seed XU has ever attained and the highest seeded A-10 team since Penn State received the No. 1 seed during the 1990-91 season.

POSTSEASON BLISS Xavier’s victory in the A-10 Championship helped the Conference garner three NCAA bids for the fourth year in a row and the fifth time in six years. In addition to Xavier, Temple and Dayton advancing to the NCAA Championship, five other A-10 schools received WNIT bids, ty- ing the league’s record with eight teams in the postseason (Charlotte, Duquesne, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph’s). The A-10 has received 14 at-large bids to compete in the NCAA Tournament over the last nine years. The 2010 season marked only the second time in Conference history (2009) that the league received five WNIT bids. The five bids tied the Big Ten, Big East, and Colonial Conferences.

WINNING WAYS The A-10 boasted six teams with 20 or more wins in 2009-10 – Xavier (30-4), Dayton (25-8), Temple (25-9), St. Bonaventure (23-10), Duquesne (20-12) and Richmond (20-13).

NATIONALLY RANKED Xavier finished the 2009-10 season ranked fifth in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 Polls. The No. 5 ranking is the high- est the Musketeers have ever achieved. It is also the first time an Atlan- tic 10 team has been in the top five since former member Penn State was No. 1 in the final poll of 1990-91 just before the Nittany Lions left the conference for the Big Ten. Temple and Dayton finished the year among nation’s elite as well, as the Owls garnered votes in both polls and Dayton received votes in the final Coaches Poll.

Seven league teams were nationally ranked or received votes last sea- son, including Charlotte, Dayton, Duquesne, Richmond, St. Bonaven- ture, Temple and Xavier. Moreover, the A-10 had two teams in the Top 25 polls for the first time since 2006, as both Xavier and Dayton were listed simultaneously for two straight-weeks. During the 2006 season, both Temple (#21) and George Washington (#25) were ranked at the same time.

RPI REPORT The A-10 finished the year ranked 10th out of 33 Conferences in the final RPI, while five of the league’s teams closed out the 2009-10 cam- paign ranked among the top 100 teams, including Xavier (9), Temple (28), Dayton (32), St. Bonaventure (76) and Richmond (81).

NON-CONFERENCE FOES The A-10 recorded a 121-100 (.548) mark against non-conference opponents last season, including postseason play. The A-10 racked up wins over Arizona State, USC, Michigan State, Purdue, Villanova, TCU, Vanderbilt and Gonzaga.
