Guide for Students with Physical Disabilities

Chukyo University cares for students with physical disabilities who need special attention and support dur- ing the entrance examination and studies at our University. In order to grasp the special needs of those students and accommodate them with our best support, we may have to interview the students in person. The interview will be conducted to better understand the student’s needs, therefore, this interview will not in any way affect our judgement on the entrance examination results and acceptance. You must meet all of the following requirements to submit the application:

❖ You have a nationality other than Japanese. ❖ You have either completed 12 years of primary and secondary levels of educations in your resident country or any equivalent education which is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), or completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program granted by the IB Organization, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. ❖ You have a Level B2 (English only) or higher in the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) standard or equivalent. Refer to “CEFR English Proficiency Levelling Systems” on page 2 for details. ❖ You are fully capable of supporting yourself financially from the time of enrollment through graduation, including payments of educational and living expenses. ❖ If you are applying for the Second Term Examination, you must reside in at the time of application.

4. Applying for the Entrance Examination

● All applications must be made on-line. 1) Go to the Major of GLS Website in Chukyo University Net Campus. https://nc.chukyo-u.ac.jp/gls

Enter all necessary information based on the application form including your name, date of birth, residence address, and reason for application. 2) Reference Number and Instruction When registration is completed, a Reference Number and Instructions for Examination will be provided on the screen, along with the list of documents you are required to prepare and bring with you on the exami- nation day. You may either PrintScreen/Screenshot this page and save as a picture format (such as JPEG) in your digital device or print out the screen and retain the copy. Make sure that you also bring this copy on the examination day. 3) Payment of Application Fee Thoroughly read and understand the payment methods on page 4. Make sure to pay the application fee of JPY35,000 no later than the due date of application submission. 4) General Instructions regarding the Examination Make sure that you have all necessary documents as listed on page 7 prepared and bring them with you on the examination day. Your Examination Card will be given in exchange for presenting the copy of the application completion screen or the saved image in your digital device. Please note that if you fail to make the payment before the due date or are not carrying all the necessary documents on the examination day, you will NOT be permitted to take the examination.

2) The name of the remitter must be the name of the applicant him/herself. The Reference Number must appear in front of your name on the remittance application form. Notes when remitting from overseas (1) Make sure to state PAY IN FULL* in the message to payee section when filling the application form so that the accurate net amount of the Application Fee will be deposited to the bank account of Chukyo University. *Bank transfer charge to be paid by remitter. Note: Make sure to bring all of following documents and items on the examination day. If any of the required documents and items is missing, you will not be permitted to take the examination.

We copy them in our office for our records and return to you on the examination day. ❖ Applicants who have completed the Special “Senshu Katei” Course offered in universities, 2-year colleges, vocational schools, and other educational institutions must present their diploma and transcripts as well. All diplomas and transcripts in languages other than Japanese or English must be provided with a Japanese or English translation prepared by a public institution.

Your ID Photo A photo must show your frontal image from chest-up. Do not wear a hat. Photo must be taken in the last 3 months. Size: 4 cm × 3 cm. Print on the back side of the photo your name, Reference Number, your major, and the School you wish to be enrolled. Photo may be taken in a photo booth. If you will be wearing glasses during the exam, the photo must show you wearing the glasses.

Stationery and writing Use black HB or No. 2 pencils or mechanical pencils. Erasers (a vinyl or plastic eraser is recom- materials mended for clean and complete erasing) Note: You are not permitted to use rulers, compass, dictionaries, and pencil boards (shitajiki) in the examination room. Note: It is your responsibility to prepare and bring your own writing materials for the examination. The University will not be blamed for your lack of any stationery required on the examination day.

Watch There will be no clock in the examination room. You may wear a wristwatch in the examination room. The watch must be a simple watch; no smart phone, cell phone, smart or hybrid watches are allowed. (No stopwatches, timers, or desktop clocks are allowed, either.)

Lunch meal On-campus cafeteria services will not be available on the examination day. Please bring a lunch pack. 1. There will be no dress code in the Examination Venue on the examination day. 2. You have to be seated at the designated desk that has your examinee number on it at least 30 minutes before the examination starts. You will be allowed to enter the examination room up to 20 minutes after the exami- nation has started, but you will not be given extra time. In case of delay because of public transportation, you need to obtain a delay certificate from the station office and submit it to the University. Those who arrive after 20 minutes have passed since the start of the examination are not permitted to sit the examination. If you can not reach the examination venue before the end of the examination of the subject because of delay of public transportation, you will not be permitted to take the examination. In such a case, the application fee may be refunded. 3. Place your Examination Card on your desk visible to the invigilators. 4. You must follow all of the instructions given by the invigilators in the examination room. Failure to comply with their instructions will be an act of improper behavior, and you will be disqualified from the examination. 5. If you cause disturbances or annoyance to other examinees in the examination venue, it will be an act of improper behavior and, you will be disqualified from the xamination.e 6. Make sure that all your mobile phones, smart watches, and other electronic devices are turned off before beginning the examination and must be kept in your bag. Keeping an electronic device on the desk, or on your person, will be an act of improper behavior, and you will be disqualified from the examination. 7. Impersonating an examinee is an act of improper behavior and will you will be disqualified from the examination. 8. If you leave your name and/or Examinee Number blank or write a wrong examinee number, your examina- tion will be invalid. 9. You are not allowed to leave the room before the designated finishing time unless you have compelling reasons. 10. 8 7. Access to the Examination Venue ■ Directions to the Examination Room

❖ You will know your examination room by signs, bulletin boards, printed handouts, and staff member guidance. ✽ You will not be permitted to enter or view the examination rooms prior to the examination date. ❖ Make sure to be in the allocated seat in the designated examination room no later than 30 min before the examination is due to start. Smoking is prohibited in the examination room. ❖ Pay great attentions not to be late for the examination. Consider the weather forecast of the examination day and its influence on the public transportation. ❖ Please do not drive to the Examination Venue. There is no parking space available for examinees.
