DISCOUNTED ON-LINE SUMMER CLASSES THROUGH WVIZ

Starting to plan your summer? How about including discounted courses through WVIZ?

The first TEN teachers who respond to ITIG for any of the following courses, WVIZ will pick up a portion of the cost for the class!!! Look for the discounted prices under each course.

Participants will pay the remainder by check. If interested in graduate credit, please send two separate checks. Course checks should be made out to WVIZ , and graduate credit checks should be made out to the individual university. All checks should be sent through school mail to ITIG / CO-DIS by June 1. PDUs will be awarded in lieu of the credit option.

Apps for Early Learners (Grades K-3) Cost: $130 (cost for the first ten responding to ITIG: $65) 1 graduate credit for an additional fee Session Dates: (4 weeks) June 17 to July 14

This online course will explore apps appropriate for early learners for all curriculum areas. Young learners are amazingly intuitive with tech gadgets. Even children who typically need assistance with “real world” activities, pick up an iPad and start touching, poking, and flicking “pages” like they’ve been doing this all their lives (maybe they have). Explore Apps available for all curriculum areas and grade levels, and how can they be used in the classroom. As more people have access to smaller, mobile devices, like iPads and Smartphones. Apps will become more and more popular both in the mainstream and in education. As educators, we need to instruct our students on how to use these mobile devices as learning tools.

Educators can learn what the iPad has to offer and how to incorporate it into the classroom. iPads support different learning styles, keep information updated, facilitate research, and empower students to engage in the learning process. Learn to set up iPads for student use, manage content, maintain control, and plan your implementation. Book not included.

21st Century Tech Skills for the Common Core The INFOhio 21 Essential Things for 21st Century Success (part of INFOhio’s Learning Commons) is an online learning program that teaches educators how emerging web-based technologies can change the way teachers and students access information and communicate with each other. Each of the 21 Things is tied to specific Common Core Standards (’s New Learning Standards). The 21 Things are divided into four separate WVIZ Online Modules. Become proficient with tools such as podcasting, video/image hosting sites, curation tools, personal learning networks (PLNs), and more. Learn how INFOhio’s highly regarded resources can enhance student research while allowing you to differentiate instruction, choose appropriate complex text, develop project based activities, and provide college and career readiness.

Cost: $130 each module (cost for the first ten responding to ITIG: $65) 1 graduate credit for an additional $160 for each module from Ashland University. Four Modules available - each covering 5 or 6 of the INFOhio 21 Things, each offering one graduate credit.

These modules are created for Ohio educators to explore and engage in Web 2.0 technologies and 21st Century Learning Skills. Module 1 needs to be taken first and can be taken with others at the same time. The Modules will each have a Facilitator to help you get started and guide you.
