Dr. Spikes was a leader who was legendary for many historic firsts, including being the first woman ever in the United States to head a university system in her role as Chancellor of the Southern University System from 1988 to 1996.

This program is accepting applications from graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university and will begin college in fall 2021 as a college freshman.

The Chevron Corporate Scholars Program will award a two-year renewable scholarship for up to $15,000 (up to $7,500 freshmen year, up to $7,500 sophomore year) to highly capable future leaders who demonstrate academic achievement, strong leadership skills and an interest in the energy industry. Students accepted to this program, will participate in a comprehensive career development and readiness curriculum and will be consider for internship opportunities with Chevron the summer following both their freshmen and sophomore years of college.

V I A C O M C B S S C H O L A R S H I P 2 0 2 1 CViacomCBS is a leading global media and entertainment company that creates premium content and experiences for audiences worldwide. Driven by iconic consumer brands, its portfolio includes CBS, SHOWTIME, , , MTV, , BET, Paramount+ and Pluto TV, among others. Developed in partnership with UNCF, the ViacomCBS UNCF Scholarship Program will provide need-based scholarships to rising African American college juniors who exemplify strong leadership abilities, and demonstrate an interest in media, entertainment, or sports. Target, in partnership with UNCF, has established the Target Scholars Program to provide 1,000 need-based scholarships of up to $5,000 to first-year Black students enrolled at select Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs) with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in technology, leadership or design. This program will provide students with four years of academic support as well as mentoring, internship opportunities, networking and more throughout their college career – and is just one way that Target’s supporting the next generation of Black talent, helping build the workforce for the future.
