We are very pleased to announce the architects we will be working with on our future development project: Levi Bernstein and Francis Roberts. We will be holding some ‘Meet the Architects’ sessions Francis Roberts on 14th December (see no ce on page 7) and would love to see as many of you as possible there. Francis Roberts Architects have thirty years’ experience designing new Levi Bernstein buildings and conserving historic structures. Their work is inspired by the importance of historical con nuity in the making of buildings and places. Francis Roberts Architects are members of the Prince’s Founda on for Building Community. Dominic Roberts is a director of the prac ce and will be one of the main architects for the new buildings proposed for the Whiteley Futures project. Dominic is an Architect Accredited in Building Conserva on, a Brother of the Art Workers’ Guild, Consul ng Architect to the Duchy of Cornwall, and a member of the Victorian Society Northern Buildings Commi ee. Irene Craik Ma hew Goulcher Dominic Roberts He has taught architecture at Manchester School of Architecture and abroad. His current projects include: a new Greek Orthodox church in Truro; the conserva on and repair of Blackpool Tower; new developments in the historic buildings at Cartmel Priory; new housing in rural Herefordshire, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Simon Lea Chris Lomas Levi Bernstein brings nearly 50 years of experience in the design of high quality housing and places to the new project at Whiteley Village. We are an architectural prac ce based in London with in- house landscape architects and urban designers. We combine a long track record of award winning, yet though ul and prac cal design in architecture with a respected body of research work and an ability to think crea vely, solve problems and ul mately to get things built. Our research includes the HAPPI Report, wri en for the government, recommending best prac ce design solu ons for older peoples housing. Recent schemes for older people include: a campus for the charity Jewish Care in North London which incorporates a care home, independent apartments and a lively day centre; independent living apartments for Hanover in Hackney as part of a larger mixed development; extra care schemes in Preston and South London for local housing associa ons; modern sheltered housing in Toddington for Central Bedfordshire Council. We also create buildings and landscapes across many other sectors such as theatres, universi es, schools, hotels, health and community projects. Many of these involve working within listed historic buildings or environments. We believe in working closely with the people who will live in or manage the buildings we design in order to create places that will give las ng enjoyment for all.
