Our summer, out of area cruises were blessed with warm and settled weather, with guests enjoying cocktails on the deck during the long daylight hours as we explored the south coast of England, the coast of Northern France and Belgium, and even the thrill of sailing under Tower Bridge and berthing alongside HMS Belfast on the Thames. We have now arrived at our winter home of Greenock on the River Clyde, where Hebridean Princess will undergo her 14 annual re-fit. General maintenance will be undertaken and guest cabins refurbished to ensure they all offer the same level of luxury and comfort.

  • Westering Home to Islay
Big storm, Saligo Bay, Islay 24x36 WESTERING HOME TO ISLAY WESTERING HOME WESTERING HOME is a famous Scottish Song which takes me back to my Chorus childhood in the 1950’s when my family and Aunts and Uncles and Cousins Westering Home, and a song in the air, got together at New Year and sung till ‘The Bells’. Light in the eye and it’s goodbye to care. Fiddles .. Piano and Mouthie sufficed – no TV then ! Laughter o’ love, and a welcoming there, Isle of my heart, my own one. The song we always sang was Westering Home … a song about Ileachs who have travelled far away from home to make a life, but dream about going 1 Tell me o’ lands o’ the Orient gay, back. Speak o’ the riches and joys o’ Cathay; Eh, but it’s grand to be wakin’ ilk day So this is what the exhibition is about … The love of a place .. and that To find yourself nearer to Islay. feeling we all sometimes have … about being drawn to returning home to our ‘roots’ .. a feeling that doesn’t leave .. especially if family are still there 2 at home .. and especially if that place is superbly beautiful ! Where are the folk like the folk o’ the west ? Canty and couthy and kindly, the best. ISLAY is a most beautiful Isle .. QUEEN OF THE HEBRIDES … they say. There I would hie me and there I would rest At hame wi’ my ain folk in Islay. I never get bored of painting ISLA as its called.

Scottish Spring Waters For Whisky Most Spirits are enjoyed with a mixer and for many, whisky is no exception. Whisky is a complex spirit with a wonderful array of aromas and flavours which is why experts recommend opening up a dram with nothing more than a dash of pure spring water. Adding water removes the alcohol prickle and releases more aromas and flavours for greater appreciation. Waters with different chemistries will reveal different aromas and flavours in the same whisky which is one reason why experts suggest that its best to add the water that made the whisky or water from the same source as the whisky. Uisge Source waters come from specially selected private springs close to the leading distilleries in each of the main Scotch whisky regions. The chemistry of Uisge Source waters matches the chemistry of the waters used in whisky distillation in each region to make the ideal complement for your dram. We all know adding a few drops of water opens up a whisky, revealing the distinctive aromas and complex fla- vours. But, for the true devotee, is any old water really good enough to share a glass with as fine a spirit as sin- Uisge Source Scottish Sping Waters For Whisky gle malt? Surely it stands to reason that the best water to use is the water from the same region as the whisky?
