Simone started walking with Glenhuntly in October 2009 and joined VRWC the following winter season. After some 5 years of steady progress, this summer season has seen huge improvement as her training has finally started to come together. On Saturday at Lakeside Stadium in AV Shield competition, she reduced her 2000m PB by 25 secs to record 9:09.1. Overall this summer, she has reduced her 2000m PB from 10:39 to 9:09, has reduced her 3000m PB from 15:11 to 14:25 and has knocked out a 1500m time of 6:53. Training now with the strong Simon Baker group, she is set to keep chipping away at these times and will be looking to knock off her PBs over the longer road distances come next winter. Well done Simone and keep up the good work! Simone in action at Middle Park on Sunday WHAT'S COMING UP • The Victorian Country T&F Championships will be held this weekend (22-24 January) at the Landy Field in Geelong.

She did understandably slow from there on but her finishing time of 47:00 was a 2:22 PB. It is a shame that she is too young for this year's World Junior Champs but she is eligible to contest the World Cup and, like Jesse, is an automatic selection as winner of the trial. • 19 year old Jesse also strode straight to the lead in the Junior Men's race and was on target for a sub-41 at the 6km mark before fading slightly in the warming morning conditions.

  • Re-Imagining and Updating Catholicity: Building Church Unity in a Globalized and Scattered World*
Re-imagining and Updating Catholicity: Building Church Unity in a Globalized and Scattered World* SANDRA ARENAS PÉREZ** ABSTRACT ontemporary Catholic theological debate on catholicity claims to recover a qualitative conception of catholicity, in order to correct C the classical emphasis on geographical breadth. The tendencies to iden tify catholicity with universality, to confuse universality with uniformity and to equate continuity with immutability, prevented the Church from developing a holistic approach to catholicity. In facing the challenge of globalization, Christianity can offer an alter native way of togetherness in diversity, which seems to be the current translation of the theological category of the catholicity of the Church. This article’s focus will be therefore on the role and significance of community building and the Church’s unity in regard to sustaining creation and addressing globalization. Key Words: Catholicity, Church Unity, Globalization, Commu nity building, Ecumenism. * This article results of fruitful theological discussions held with some colleagues at the Theology Faculty of the Catholic University of Leuven-Belgium, on the occasion of the International Conference “To Discern Creation in a Scattered World”. A preliminar version, with a stronger emphasis on globalization, was published as part of the memoirs of the above mentioned event: Lernen für das Leben. Perspektiven ökumenischen Lernens und ökumenischer Bildung. Leuven: Lembeck, 2010., p. 187-201 ** Doctor in Systematic Theology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
