A mysterious event occurs at the World Cup that makes eve- ryone freak out. When all the students arrive at Hogwarts they are surprised at what Professor Dumbledore tells them about the school year. There is going to be a competition (called the Triwizard Tour- nament) held at the school, and two other foreign schools will be competing in it as well. At the end of the competition, Harry and another boy experience some- thing that will change the rest of their lives.

Rollercoaster Project

In Mrs. Reeves 6th grade science class, students did a project where they built roller coasters with only toothpicks and insulation tubes. The students designed their own roller coasters and added what they thought was fun to their project. The challenge was for the marble to complete the track, and every student completed the

challenge. Baylor Hopland interviewed Mrs. Reeves about the project.

What do you think the students favorite part of the project was? “When I asked my students what their favorite part of this project was, several of them said they liked working in groups. They also enjoyed actually building some- thing after brain-storming about it.”

What supplies did the students have to use? Did they have a limit? “Students had a $1,000,000 budget to use to buy fake materials. Each material had a price for a specific quantity. The only materials available were toothpicks, tape, insulation tubing, and marbles.”

How long did it take the students to build their project? “Students brain-stormed and planned before building. Building took two to three days.”

Was this a group project, or did individual students complete it? “Students worked in groups that I organized. It was cool to see students working with people they didn’t know well, but ended up becoming friends with.”

What was your favorite part of the project? “This project was so fun for me because my students had fun while also learning about potential and kinetic energy. I think it helped them understand a complex topic more easily.” 7 LIKE A GIRL By: Josie Haynes

Christmas and New Years are right around the corner. Christmas is on December 25th and New Years Eve is on December 31. On Christmas, there is a man named Santa Clause. He gives out presents to all the good little boys and girls. In tradition we trade cookies and milk for presents. Some people also have the tradition of opening at least 1 present before Christmas morning. Most people decorate there houses with Christmas lights and Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree is usually decorated with garland, ornaments, lights, and to top is off an angel or a star. On New Years Eve at midnight, 12:00 A.M, A ball drops in New York City to declare the New Year. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a wonderful

Christmas Movies!!!!!

This loveable Christmas classic is about one of Santa’s elves who gets too big to continue work- ing in the workshop. Then Buddy the Elf is sent back to New York where his father is from. Buddy finds his family and so much more in New York. This loveable Christmas comedy is sure to warm your heart and become one of your favorite Christmas movies!

Scrooged is a Bill Murray Christmas comedy about a big company Exec’s “Scrooge” Christmas. While he’s trying to produce a live version of “A Christmas Carol” he begins to live the story through a modern day point of view. This story includes crazy taxis, a zombie boss and Bill Mur- ray wearing a dog suit. As you’re taken through his sad, funny, and crazy life I’m sure that you’ll have a laugh.

Yes, this isn’t the Grinch that we all know; it’s different. This Grinch is voiced by Benedict Cum- berbatch and also stars Pharrell Williams, Angela Lansbury and Keenan Thompson. This Grinch is also animated but still features the classic story. This Grinch also features some new characters. One of the new characters featured in the trail- ers is a really big reindeer. The best way to de- scribe him would be short and stout. This new Grinch looks very promising and I think that you will enjoy this revamp of a classic Christmas 14 movie and book.  Santa-Merry Christmas!

Elf-I’ll marry whomever I please, thank you very much.

Santa- Now, what was that all about?

 Why did the time traveler hate Christmas?

He had some good futures and some good pasts, but he never had any good presents.

 Which Christmas character loves Wendy’s?

Answer: Frosty the snowman

 Dear Santa

I don’t think you should give me coal for Christmas. Do you WANT to promote pollution? How about a nice solar generator instead? However, to install it, I’ll need some money. Send 10’s and 20’s. Also, to keep the generator running, I’ll need a steady cash flow, so could you send me some stock shares. Diversify my portfolio for me, I don’t want to go under. What do you mean, I’m a cheapskate? Do you realize you’ve forced a legion of elves to work for free without health insurance in the North Pole for almost 17 centuries? Don’t be such a hypocrite. I’ll sue you! You owe me restitution!
