South and Crookston Community Council Minutes of meeting held on 24th May 2016 Thursday 26th May 2016 At Lourdes Secondary

 The Chair opened the meeting and thanked those present for attending  Approval of the minutes of previous meeting – Alison Bennett and Jim McGowan  Police report – Constable Paul Lambert and Constable Beth Begley in attendance. The police confirm there had been 48 crimes reported in the last 2 months in beat 5 only  Assaults 9  Thefts 12  Attempt housebreaking 2  Vandalism 7  Drugs relates incidents 4  Drinking on the street 2  Breach of peace 6  Misc 6  Jim Kavanagh brought up the issue of police attendance at the community council meeting. Cllr Watson confirmed he knows how busy the police were but he was going to bring up this issue with the Police Commander.

 Councillors report  Councillor Watson confirmed he was setting up a meeting with the owners of the gable end tenement building on the Paisley Rd West at Lourdes Avenue to do with the artwork on the side of the building  Meeting with Lesley McGregor about funding for the site next to Mosspark railway station, Lesley is submitting bid to GHA to have new fencing put up in area. Cllr A Watson confirmed he is keen for Lesley to support a bid to landscape the entrance to Mosspark Railway Station in partnership with Scotrail.  Issue with litter at Tannadice Path Flats, bins within the grounds, litter hasn’t been getting lifted. Council have been lifting litter however they don’t have a service agreement with GHA. Cllr Watson spoke to LES and will write to tenants advising when the agreement will be in place.  .Cllr Watson is writing to First Bus to seek assurance about the future of First Bus in Glasgow. Cllr Watson confirms one bus service in East Lothian is closing down their entire bus service.  Cllr Watson confirmed he had two site meetings, one was for the box junction at Moulin Rd, the other was about the exposed cables at Crookston Rd. The road engineer confirmed they will resurface the junction.  Graffiti – Community Safety Glasgow offered to remove the graffiti however Poundstreacher will not give permission to go on the roof. Cllr Watson is going to write to owners.  City Chambers - there was a launch of an Environmental Task Force. The Task Force will deal with issues that are raised with Councillors, i.e. – road repairs, fly tipping, waste disposal. This task force will be proactive by engaging with local schools and providing training opportunities for youth. They will be lead by digital aids and apps and will be working in partnership with the housing associations.  Fallout from Hampden – The next big events safety certificate was refused as the Council weren’t happy with the safety at the event.  Area Partnership – Primary School review report was about the physical condition of schools and capacity. It was a good report which shows the healthy state of the schools in our area.

Box junction cannot be sited but willing to put KEEP CLEAR markings on carriageway.  AW:LES reply Mr Rodden has advised that 20mph roundel markings are now only marked at entry points to 20 mph zones. There are currently 9 roundels within Cairnhill Circus which were refurbished this year.  AW : DRS re adopted land at Crookston Station  AW : LES Angus Oval bin emptied, apols for delay.

Update from Area Partnership: Schools update AW spoke about earlier. Paul McGrath gave update of Local Operation Working Group (LOWG) Mr McConkey local resident aids to help elderly and inform in their homes. Feedback from Community Budgeting Event: GCC officers said all went well albeit first attempt and lessons learned for next time !

Update from DF: Tony Boyle from LES gave an overview of Glasgow’s Recycling Provision.

 Jim Kavanagh asked about the hanging baskets in the Cardonald area as he heard there was cut backs weren’t going up this year. Cllr Watson confirmed he will raise this  Anna McGowan asked Cllr Watson if there was any update on the hogweed. Margaret McDonald confirmed they were treating some areas that had hogweed in Rosshall Park.  Fred Boyd asked about the tree roots, Cllr Watson asked for a colour coded map to see who owned which area but nothing had been actioned yet.  Alison Bennett brought up the issue of weeds at 144Tarfside Oval, Cllr Watson confirmed he would action.
