Sudbury Reservoir, the backup water supply for Boston and 50 other cities Get your Fishing License and towns, is a 1,240 acre impoundment of the Sudbury River in Southborough and Marlborough. The average depth of the reservoir is 12 Freshwater Fishing feet with a maximum of 60 feet. The reservoir lies within land owned by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and is undeveloped. Trout Stocking Information
Recreational Access Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program DCR permits shore fishing only at Sudbury Reservoir from dawn to dusk. The entire shoreline is open except that portion of the reservoir closest to the dam. The prohibited area extends from the Rt 30 Causeway around past the dam to Clemmons Street. Fishing is also not permitted in the river downstream of the dam or in Foss Reservoir. The following fish species were found during MassWildlife surveys:
