Both are in their late-40s, (at the peak of their movie careers), but to begin with we have no real clue as to who they are, where they are or what they do. They are just two guys in cheap suits talking to each other. HARDY lights up a cigarette as he talks. HARDY There she was, all gussied up on the front door step. RECENT DEVELOPMENT INHERITABILITY OF THE RIGHT OF PUBLICITY UPON THE DEATH OF THE FAMOUS I. INTRODUCTION The exploitation of famous names and likenesses in the mar- keting of consumer products involves huge sums of money.1 Courts have recognized, albeit haphazardly, the tremendous pecuniary value of celebrity endorsements and have afforded individuals the right to exclusive control over their names and likenesses. 2 Al- though courts have applied various labels to this guarantee, s the term most commonly used is "right of publicity."'4 Given the large amount of money at stake, clear delineation of the scope of this right is imperative. Recently, however, state and federal courts5 have reached divergent results concerning the inheritability of the right of publicity upon the death of the famous. -

Benson Fong, Beulah Quo, and George Takei on the set of My Three Sons. 2016 Amerasia Journal Amerasia 96 Amerasia Journal 42:2 (2016): 96-117 10.17953/aj.42.1.96 The Asian American Next Door Enfiguring the Model Minority on the Domestic Melodrama Melissa Phruksachart In the years between the mass incarceration of Japanese Americans (1942-1946) and the 1965 Immigration Act, what prepared the Ameri- can public to recognize and validate the term “model minority?” This essay proposes a televisual genealogy of the model minority as dis- tinct from the 1966 formulation published by The New York Times in William Petersen’s feature “Success Story, Japanese-American Style.”1 Building upon prior scholarship, I inquire into the early Cold War log- ics that precipitated the popular rise of the model minority figure in 1966. In particular, I point to network television as an archive that circulated the structures of feeling necessary for the model minority to take hold. By doing so, I place recent histories of Asian American do- mesticity during the Cold War era into closer conversation with U.S. popular culture, particularly television. While popular media histories lament the rarity of Asian Ameri- cans on television, I identify the trope of the Asian American neigh- bor as increasingly common on television in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Both the television industry and Asian American communities found themselves rapidly growing in size in mid-1950s California. At stake for both the television industry and Asian American commu- nities was the chance to be “domesticated” into the American home. -

In the weeks to Past President Dick Fox come, David Vincent would go back to how it began many times.” So begins the Prologue of the premiere-pilot episode of the 1960s sci-fi Directors TV series The Invaders, starring Roy Thinnes as David Vincent, in which Lynn Cudé much of this historic episode was filmed on location in Old Town Temecula in Elaine Culverhouse March 1966. The episode, titled “Beachhead”, serves as a convenient video Suzanne Dechert time capsule of Temecula’s Old Town area as it was some five decades ago. Elaine Eshom “Beachhead” was broadcast for the first time on the ABC Network on January Darell Farnbach 10, 1967.
