 Dhanush artillery gun clears final trials o The indigenously upgraded artillery gun Dhanush has successfully completed final user trials and is ready for induction into the Army. o Dhanush is an upgraded version of the Swedish Bofors gun procured by India in the mid-1980s. o This was the third and final phase of user exploitation firings in which six Dhanush guns were fired in battery formation at the Pokhran field firing range.  Nerella Venumadhav passes away o Father of Indian mimicry, Nerella Venu Madhav died after a brief illness at his home in Mattewada in Warangal city in Telangana. o Venumadhav served as an MLC in 1971 in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. o He rose to international fame after his enthralling performance at the United Nations. o He has been conferred scores of awards, including the Padma Shri in 2001.  Jammu & Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti Resigns o Jammu & Kashmir's Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti submitted her resignation to the Governor after BJP announced to pull out of an alliance with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). o The reason for the pullout was failure to control the situation in the state and meet its promises. o BJP's General Secretary Ram Madhav also called for Governor's rule in Jammu & Kashmir.  Kaiga generating systems sets new record o The 220 MW Unit-1 of Karnataka's Kaiga Generating Systems (KGS-1) set a new record of the continuous operation of 766 days. o It surpassed the earlier record of 765 days set by the Unit-5 of Rajasthan Atomic Power Station (RAPS-5) in 2014. o The unit KGS-1 has been in operation since May 13, 2016. The 220 MW KGS-1 is an indigenous PHWR fuelled by domestic fuel.  India, Italy agreed to revitalise ties o India and Italy agreed to boost cooperation in counter-terrorism and cybersecurity as External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met the top Italian leadership and discussed steps to revitalise bilateral ties. o It was the first major political exchange between the two countries. o Ms. Swaraj is there on the first leg of her seven-day tour of four European countries.  RBI alters ‘relative’ definition o The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has narrowed the definition of relatives to check the flow of funds.

o Hence, funds under the ‘maintenance of close relative’ category can be sent only to immediate relatives such as parents, spouses, children and their spouses. o This has brought about by defining ‘relatives’ under the Companies Act, 2013 instead of the same act of 1956.  Google to train 8000 Indian journalist o Google will provide training to 8,000 journalists in English and six other Indian languages on fact checking. o Training workshops will be conducted in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi and Kannada. o Google News Initiative India Training Network will select 200 journalists from cities across India and train them during 5 day train-the-trainer boot camps.  Workshop on Cyber Security Framework 2018 o A workshop on cyber security for Department of Defence was organised by Department Defence Production, MoD. It was inaugurated by Defence Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman. o The framework is in line with guidelines for organisations to target the area of cyber security and identify improvements in the area. o Joint Secretary and Chief Information Security Officer of DDP is Dr Amit Sahai.  Telangana to set up special turmeric cell o The Union Commerce Ministry along with Telangana government would set up a special cell for turmeric in Nizamabad. o The proposed move would help in improving the production, quality, marketing and export of turmeric. o India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of turmeric in the world. The export volume is of 80,400 tons worth Rs. 778.07 Crore.  Govt. to set up 5th data centre in India o The govt will set up the country's biggest data centre in Bhopal with a capacity to host 5 lakh servers. o The data centre will be set up by the National Informatics Centre and will be 5th National Data Centre (NDC) after Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Hyderabad & Pune. o These NDC host government websites, services and applications. The government also expanded BPO scheme to 1 lakh seats from 48,000 seats  SAARC launches social enterprise programme o SAARC Development Fund launches a social enterprise development programme (SEDP) to fund 80 entities annually across eight-member states. o SDF was established in April 2010 and its council comprises finance ministers of these eight SAARC countries.The SDF CEO is Sunil Motiwal o SDF has already committed $73.74 million for social window projects out of which it has disbursed $47 million.
