PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

th Welcome to Miami High’s 120 year of servicing our students and neighboring community. 2013-2014 will usher in the completion of a $5 million construction project that will include a fully restored gymnasium, media center, and cafeteria. In addition, three new buildings have been added that include state of the art SMARTBOARDS and wireless internet connection. Proud Miami High stands as the cornerstone of our community, a place where students enjoy the privilege of a challenging education and a rich tradition.

Our school motto “non verbis, sed operis: not through words, but deeds” embraces the hope we keep for our students, that they will become the future business, education, religious, political, and professional leaders they are destined to be. We believe by creating a caring and nurturing climate, Miami High will be able to meet your child’s needs and raise their level of academic performance. We will encounter new and exciting challenges, each met with determination and diligence. With your support we are sure we will succeed in our endeavors, to make Miami High a great learning community.

We encourage you to become informed and read through the Curriculum Bulletin before courses are selected as the State of Florida has changed graduation requirements and added new exams.

 Read the entire MDCPS Curriculum Bulletin and Miami High course offerings @ mhs.dadeschools.net.  Know the requirements for your year of graduation.  Make a four-year plan. What courses do you need to take in the 9, 10, 11 and 12 grades?  Refer to the appropriate Academy and Department for the list of course offerings.  Use the Subject Selection Worksheet provided to you by the Student Services Department.  Acquire the approval of a teacher or Department Chairperson when signatures are required.  Sign up for eight subjects. Intensive Reading and /or Mathematics elective will be assigned to students based on the FCAT exams and End of Course (EOC) results.  Select five (5) ELECTIVE SUBJECTS.
