HC PICKED EIGHTH IN PRESEASON POLL: The Holy Cross Tied In Shots 0-0-0 men’s hockey team was selected eighth in the Atlantic Hockey Association Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Crusaders received 44 Scoring Three Or More Goals 0-0-0 total points. Mercyhurst, last year’s regular season champion, has Scoring Two Goals 0-1-0 been selected as the overall favorite with 95 total points and six fi rst place votes. Last year’s Atlantic Hockey tournament champion, Scoring One Goal Or Less 0-1-0 Robert Morris was second place in the poll with 89 total points and three fi rst place votes. The Crusaders started off the season by playing Hockey East opponent Merrimack in a home-and-home series. The Warriors won Atlantic Hockey Standings (Through games of Oct. 16) the fi rst game, 3-2, and the second game, 2-1. The season-opener Pts Conference Overall versus the Warriors at the Hart Center on Oct. 10 was the fi rst time Air Force 2 1-1-0 1-1-0 that Holy Cross has hosted a Hockey East team in the fi rst game of Army 2 1-1-0 1-1-0 the season. Holy Cross will travel to University Park, Pa., to take on Mercyhurst 2 1-1-0 1-1-0 Big Ten opponent Penn State on Oct. 24 and Oct. 26. The Crusaders Sacred Heart 2 1-1-0 1-1-0 will host Brown on Nov. 30 and Yale on Dec. 30. AIC 0 0-0-0 0-1-0 Bentley 0 0-0-0 0-1-0 BERARD IN FIRST SEASON AT HOLY CROSS: David Berard Canisius 0 0-0-0 1-1-0 enters his fi rst season as the head coach at Holy Cross. Berard has Holy Cross 0 0-0-0 0-2-0 over 20 years of collegiate hockey experience, including 16 seasons at his alma mater, Providence College. He also served as the interim Niagara 0 0-0-0 0-2-0 head coach at the University of Connecticut for the majority of the RIT 0 0-0-0 1-1-0 2012-2013 season. Berard assumed the position of interim head Robert Morris 0 0-0-0 2-0-0 coach at UConn on Nov. 5, 2012, after serving as an assistant coach under Bruce Marshall. As interim head coach, Berard led the Upcoming Games Huskies to a 19-10-3 record, including a 14-7-3 mark in Atlantic Friday, October 17 Hockey Association play. He guided UConn to a 10-3-2 record to AIC at Holy Cross, 7:05 p.m. close out the year, with the Huskies sweeping their Atlantic Hockey Canisius at Army, 7:05 p.m. quarterfi nal series against Robert Morris before ultimately falling in Niagara at Robert Morris, 7:05 p.m. the Atlantic Hockey semifi nals. Holy Cross previously held this event at the at Canisius 4, Western Michigan 2 DCU Center in 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. The 2016 event will at Union 7, AIC 3 mark the 14th overall time that the regional will take place at the at Air Force 5, Mercyhurst 1 DCU Center.
