Cannabis Growth and Distribution bylaw passes The zoning bylaw amendment related to the growth and distribution of cannabis has been adopted by the RM of Edenwold and will be submitted to Community Planning for approval.“The role of the municipal government with respect to cannabis production and distribution is to determine where these types of operations can occur, where they should not be allowed and the appropriate development standards and conditions,Ó says Jana Jedlic, Senior Municipal Planner with the RM of Edenwold. The RM staff and council have been working on the bylaw amendment since February using feedback from residents and information from federal and provincial government. Once the bylaw is approved by the province, the municipality will have parameters in place to manage cannabis-related developments into the future. Fast FAQs:

1. The RM of Edenwold has a 200 metre buffer zone around schools, places of worship, daycares, parks and playgrounds. 2. Retail operations are limited to three zoning districts: HPC Ð High Profile Commercial, COM1 Ð General Commercial and IND1 Ð General Industrial. 3. Cannabis production facilities are limited to two zoning districts: AR Ð Agricultural Resource and IND1 Ð General Industrial. 4.
