Focusing on music, poetry, theatre, and graffiti and related visual arts, I explore how these “do-it-yourself” scenes represent, at least potentially, a “return of the aura” to the production of culture at the edge of social and political transformation. At the same time, the struggle to retain a revolutionary grounding in the wake of successful counter-revolutionary moves highlights the essentially “religious” grounding of “committed” art at the intersection of intense creativity and conflict across the Arab world. Attacks also continued against Israelis and Jews, with a Palestinian stabbing a policeman near a West Bank settlement before being shot dead by the victim, who was lightly wounded. A Jewish 16-year-old was lightly wounded in a new stabbing in Jerusalem by an 18-year-old Palestinian suspect, who was arrested. In the assault by a Jew, the assailant aged about 20 was arrested and told police he carried out the attack in the southern Israeli city of Dimona because “all Arabs are terrorists”. The victims suffered light to moderate wounds. It marked the first such attack against Palestinians after at least 11 stabbings that have targeted Israelis or Jews since Saturday, killing two of them. Later, a woman was shot after a stabbing attempt in northern Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly condemned the stab- bings by the Jewish suspect, a sign of concerns it could trigger further violence. Palestinians have also rioted in annexed east Jerusalem and the West Bank in recent days, with the unrest raising fears of a wider uprising or even a third intifada.

NOVEMBER, 1926 NO.1 THE LIFE OF CLEVELAND H. DODGE The Great Friend oj the Near East. I have been requested by the editor of the English issue of AI-Kulliyyah to prepare an article on Cleveland H. Dodge, placing special emphasis on his interest in the Near East. All I can do is to state a few facts simply-their unusual significance must be left to the imagination of the reader. Cleveland H. Dodge came from an old American family which has been distinguished for many generations for its re­ ligious zeal and philanthropy. The first member settled in Salem, Mass., in 1629. The first New York member of the family was David Low Dodge, born in Connecticut in 1774. He came to New York in 1805 as a partner in the largest wholesale dry goods house in the city. David married a daughter of the Rev. Aaron Cleveland, grandfather of Grover Cleveland-a former president of the United States. David Low Dodge founded a line of philanthropists. For five generations the name has been prominent in finance, social and religious work. He was one of the founders of the American Tract and Bible Society and the first president of the American Peace Society. He wrote several books on religious subjects, one being "War Inconsistent with the Religion of Jesus Christ." His son, William Earl Dodge, became in 1833 a partner in Phelps, Dodge and Co., which is still one of the greatest houses in the metal industries.

Hon bidrar till den mångfald vi önskar i programmet under festivalen. Vårt mål är att tilltala en så bred publik som möjligt säger Rickard Bengtsson, projektledare för scen och kultur. Emel Mathlouthi blandar nordafrikanska rytmer med elektroniska beats, detta toppar hon med en oerhört vacker och kraftfull röst. Hon är känd som en av de ledande artisterna för den arabiska våren under vilken hon även fick sitt genombrott. 2012 släppte hon sitt debutalbum Kelmti Horra (Mitt ord är fritt), som fick ett varmt mottagande av fans och kritiker. Inspelningen när hon framför låten Kelmti Horra inför demonstranter i centrala Tunis spreds snabbt i sociala medier, och blev något av en symbol för den demokratiska kampen. Skivan präglas av starka melodier och influenser från artister som Joan Baez, Massive Attack och Björk. Därefter har Emel Mathlouthi uppträtt i länder som Egypten, Irak och Turkiet samt på festivaler i Kanada, Frankrike och Storbritannien. 2015 gjorde Emel ett bejublat framträdande på ceremonin för Nobels fredspris i Oslo. Till The Tall Ships Races kommer denna världsartist uppbackad av ett band där de fokuserar på musiken från det senaste albumet Ensen som släpptes i början av 2017.

It is being piloted in Cairo, Egypt and Doro Camp, Maban, with teachers and children, teachers have demonstrated improved South Sudan. By focusing on the well-being of both teachers and classroom management and pedagogy skills and children’s literacy students and assessing their related social and emotional needs, levels have increased.
