Start your review of A Silent Voice, Vol. I wish I can say I loved this manga and it made cry but then I would be lying. I didn't feel anything while reading it and I expected a rollercoaster of emotions. To be fair, it started well, not just good great. But then it dragged A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 bit and it was slow. I didn't care much about the characters maybe Shoko and the Nishimiya sisters a bit. Ok who am I kidding I really liked Shoko but that's it, after all I gave it 3 stars for a reason. The last volume didn't meet my expectations the whole manga I wish I can say I loved this manga and it made cry but then I would be lying. The last volume didn't meet my expectations the whole manga didn't. Now I'm hoping the movie A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 be better. View all 5 comments. The series ender for this relatively short--for manga- seven volume series about a deaf girl, Shoko, who is bullied by Shoko, in elementary school. The series takes them all to graduation, and my five star rating is for the whole series and for ending, my first five star rating of the series, so you know I think it ended well. Characterizations are all done really well, though to the end, Shoko's character remains a bit of a mystery. And Shoya, a qui The series ender for this relatively short--for manga-seven volume series about a deaf A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7, Shoko, who is bullied by Shoko, in elementary school. And Shoya, a quiet, uncommunicative guy mostly, discovers his voice in the end, deciding, after he wakes from his coma, to choose life and change fundamentally, and talk to almost all of his friends he has been so removed from in many ways. This is a bullying comic, and I'm kinda sick of these, but A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 is a thoughtful exploration of bullying, and its ripple effects on everyone: bullies get bullied as a result of their bullying, bullying creates bullying. People are mean to each other throughout, but it's also true people grow up, broken friendships mend, and so on. I loved the subtlety of the end, though I see and know other readers wanted a more definitive romantic ending. I thought it was perfect for the expression of there relationship, and hinted at the future without promising. I loved the fractured storytelling and the fact that it is so hard for these young people to figure out how to talk to and be honest with each other and themselves. The talk feel real, and difficult. And there are so many different ways the telling takes place, I thought it was fresh and original and open and interesting as visual storytelling. A great series. The biggest disappointment of for me so far. What the hell was this last volume? What happened to the original plot? So many branches, so scattered, so many needless side character plots that I didn't care about. And the main reason I was reading all of this - Shoko and Shoya? Their ending was barely acceptable, at the most. Just not the way I was picturing this going. I'm not saying all of the stories should end happily and with "ships sailing"but I wa 2. I'm not saying all of the stories should end happily and with "ships sailing"but I wanted more. Much more. That never got brought A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 up or resolved at all! Nobody misses granny? Suddenly Yuzu is so tame and going to school and as bland as a flour? Oh and Shoya's sister is suddenly back and so is her boyfriend?? Who the hell cares about her? I might not even read manga for a bit. Like a day. View all 3 comments. Shoya is the resident bully of his grade school, always picking on people whom he sees as inferior. His perspective is A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 one that leads us through this story. Shoko is a girl who is born deaf. Consequences for his actions arise and eventually the whole class begins to pick on Shoya. But I must say that this format was rather brilliant. We are taken into the mind of an abuser so that we can wholeheartedly understand the justification as to why they behave in the ways that they do; what drives them to be an asshole? Understanding Shoya helped me to better comprehend the notion of belittling others to make yourself feel better about who you are, or the shitty situations that life can put you into. This is something that I see more often than I care to admit in Asian social structures. Coming from a South Asian family, A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 grew up watching my cousins brutally rip into one another, whether verbally or physically, just to place themselves on these pedestals of superiority. This is a practice that we see with Shoya. I had a difficult time making it through the first volume without sending it flying across the damn room. I sat A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 with a more open mind and continued onwards. Character growth is quite possibly the fundamental facet of A Silent Voice. Watching Shoya go from bully to bullied causes a change within him, one that will span the course of six years. He struggles to cope with his childish behaviours and seeks out a means of finding redemption and forgiveness. I think this is brilliant for two distinct reasons. The first is that it paints a wonderful portrait of humanity. Being human is fucking up, learning from those fuck ups hopefullyand evolving from that life experience. The second comes in the shape of the effects that begin to arise. We always see the psychological damages that stems from being abused, but we fail to see that there are profound psychological impacts on those who commit these violent acts of hatred. Every act, every opinion, every characteristic of his adolescent life is intensely affected by these psychological remnants that stew silently within his brain. He has some of the best character growth A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 I have ever seen in young adult literature. Shoko, the silent girl who is deaf, is bullied so terribly that she is forced to leave the elementary school for good. You see her as a meek person, and at first you genuinely feel bad A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 her. Maybe a swallow of pity will slide down your throat at you watch the obstacles she faces with her disability. A Silent Voice Vol. 7 - Manga Review — Taykobon

Shoya has woken up from his coma resulting from his fall off an apartment balcony in saving Shoko from killing herself. The story of these two teenagers finally reaching an understanding comes to a resolution as Shoya stumbles out of the hospital towards the bridge where Shoko is crying. Appropriately, this volume is all about providing resolution to these various conflicts, and succeeds precisely because of the way that it builds off of the previous volume in a way that addresses the series long-running themes in a satisfying and fitting manner. What follows is absolutely wonderful because we finally get to see the two have their first real conversation with everything laid out on the table. One thing that made this scene particularly engaging to me was the way that parts of the conversation are hidden from the reader, creating a sense of distinct personal connection between Shoya and Shoko as they communicate that feels hidden and A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7. The entire scene felt incredibly nuanced in A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 way that fits with the way that emotions have been portrayed in this series so far - there are no platitudes or meaningless explication, but instead a wonderful moment where these two characters cut through the messiness everything they feel and have gone through to reach a genuine moment of true understanding. Both of these scenes worked well because of the way that they acknowledge the growth that these characters had because of their experiences together, and I particularly like this growth was portrayed subtly in the actions of these characters rather than simply in their words. Additionally, I really liked the way that this series made sure to give each character a sense of personal resolution in a way that felt cohesively connected to their arcs in the previous volumes. If this volume has one scene that feels a little bit out of place, it is a segment showing their film subsequently being shown at an actual film event to a shockingly negative and mean spirited review. However, I did like that this scene provided a satisfying statement in giving Shoya the opportunity to support his friends in a way that demonstrated his changed self in a fittingly apparent way. The chapters of this volume are devoted to bringing this series to a close by showing these characters confronting their respective futures as many of them, including Shoya and Shoko, graduate from high-school. The gang regroups two years later on coming-of-age today to cap out the series in a fulfilling scene that gives us just enough satisfying resolution while fittingly conveying the overall hope each of them A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 gained because of their respective journeys. This volume does a deft job of showing what needs to be shown while leaving just enough out of sight in a way that allows the reader to draw their own conclusions about the resolution reached by A Silent Voice Vol. 7: 7 of these characters. This is supported by the way it shows its work by demonstrating very visibly through the actions of its characters the way that they have been changed even if it is left up to the reader to take away what they will from these changes. Additionally, the art here is fantastic and complements helps to convey the emotional beats of this story extremely effectively. A Silent Voice Vol. An film is currently in production.
