OBITUARY REFERENCE

HON. SPEAKER: Hon. Members, I have to inform the House about the sad demise of Shrimati Krishna Kumari who was a member of the 5th Lok Sabha representing the Jodhpur Parliamentary Constituency of Rajasthan.

Shrimati Krishna Kumari was a popular visionary and focused leader who did remarkable work in the field of empowering women and girls education.

Under her guidance, Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls Public School in Jodhpur and also Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls Hostel in Desuri were founded.

Shrimati Krishna Kumari passed away on 03 July, 2018 in Jodhpur,

Rajasthan at the age of 92.

We deeply mourn the sad demise of Shrimati Krishna Kumari and I am sure the House will join me in conveying our condolences to the bereaved family.

The Members then stood in silence for a short while.

THE FINANCIAL RESOLUTION AND DEPOSIT INSURANCE BILL, 2017

THE MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, MINISTER OF COAL, MINISTER

OF FINANCE AND MINISTER OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS (SHRI

PIYUSH GOYAL) moved that leave be granted to withdraw a Bill to provide for the resolution of certain categories of financial service providers in distress; the deposit insurance to consumers of certain categories of financial services; designation of systemically important financial institutions; and establishment of a

Resolution Corporation for protection of consumers of specified service providers and of public funds for ensuring the stability and resilience of the financial system and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto, as reported by Joint

Committee.

The Bill, by leave, was withdrawn.

SUBMISSION BY MEMBERS

Re: Reported sexual abuse of minor girls in shelter home in U.P.

THE MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI RAJNATH SINGH) responding to the issue raised by several hon. Members, said: I would like to inform the hon. Members that wherever such incidents have taken place in the country are definitely very painful, unfortunate and shameful. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh quickly called a meeting of the officials and the Government took quick action in the matter. The District Planning Officer, who is directly responsible for it was suspended immediately. In addition, the caretaker of the children’s shelter home and her husband have been arrested and sent to jail. For a full inquiry into the matter, two officers of Additional Chief Secretary and

Additional DG level have been appointed so that all the facts come out. I assure that the criminal will not be spared. I would also like to inform the House that in view of such incidents which have come to light in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, I would request the concerned ministry and the Hon. Minister to issue necessary

Advisory to all States in this regard so that a full inquiry of all such children shelter homes is conducted to avoid recurrence of such unfortunate, painful and shameful incidents.
