DESIGNED BY: Helen Firing INSTRUCTIONS BASE SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate Beginning with darkest colour, cast on 16 sts. Knit 62 rows. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Cast off 15 sts. Place marker for beginning of round. Bag size: Approx. 8” x 4” at base, 8 1/2” high Turn work 90 degrees and pick up and knit 32 sts along Strap: 32” total length, 16” high first long edge. PM.

Spare needle for three needle bind-off, if using Magic Loop method. SIDES . Yarn Needle Join for working in the round. Slip beg of round marker. SPLIT FOR STRAPS Remove beg of round marker and cast off 32 sts knitwise, remove next marker as you come to it, (sl1wyif, K1) 5 times, sl1wyif to next marker (first strap sts), remove next marker and cast off 31 sts, remove last marker as you come to it, (K1, sl1wyif) 5 times, K1 (second strap). You will now have two sets of 12 sts, one on each short side of the bag. The 12 sts of the first strap can be left on the cord of your circular needle or spare double point needle until you are ready to work them.

STRAPS Beginning with 12 sts of second strap, proceed as follows:

Row 1 (WS): sl1wyif, (P1, sl1wyib) 5 times, P1. Row 2 (RS): sl1wyib, (K1, sl1wyif) 5 times, K1.

For a Project Bag, Rep rows 1 and 2 for 8”, ending with Row 1. Break yarn and set aside these live sts on a stitch holder.

For a Shoulder Bag, Rep rows 1 and 2 for 16”, ending with Row 1. Break yarn and set aside these live sts on a stitch holder.

Reattach working yarn to 12 sts of first strap with RS facing and work as above for second strap, beginning and ending with Row 2.

Return 12 stitches of first strap to needle. Using spare needle, join straps together with WS facing using three needle bind-off method.

Break yarn. Weave in all ends. is not necessary.
