II: ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROFILE: An Overview

1. 1999 to 2014, over 56 quality Research Supervisions at PhD (13), Masters (26) and 17 (Postgraduate Diploma) at different Universities, nationally and internationally, namely, Kenyatta University, Kenya; Kyambogo University, ; University of Dar es salaam, Tanzania; and University of Karlsruhe, Germany, as detailed below. Out of these 45 are completed and over 11are ongoing. 2. An Associate Professor at Kenyatta University. 3. Currently the Director, University – Industry Partnerships. 4. Publications:  13 book Chapters  20 articles in referred journals  2 text books 5. 2007 to 2011: Served severally as acting Dean, School of Applied Human Sciences. 6. 2012 - Participated in a Senior Government Officers‟ Workshop in China on Science, Technology and Innovation between 2nd September to 17th September 2012. 7. Served as a consultant for African Development Bank (ABD) on matters regarding entrepreneurship for the African Youth in a workshop in Senegal between 10th and 12th December 2012. 8. Has since 2000 established very strong partnerships with numerous organizations and universities from all over the world including the Chandaria Foundation, World Association of Sports Management (WASM); University of Aletheia, Taiwan, University of Leuphana (Germany), Kenya Commission for UNESCO; BASF Stiftung (Germany), BASF (East Africa) Ltd, University of West Virginia, Ohio University, University of South Carilina and many others. 9. My Directorate scored and was ranked highest out of all Departments and Directorates and offices at Kenyatta University in the 2010/2011 performance contracting year. 10. Served as the founding Director of Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Centre which has become a very successful story and an African model. 11. In 2012, I initiated and have facilitated very successfully the establishment of Students Training on Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP – Kenya Chapter) at Kenyatta University and in the

country. This is a programme continues to benefit hundreds of students at Kenyatta University between 2012 and 2014 where students receive a startup loan (Ksh8,500) from donors to start their own businesses as they go through a 3 months STEP sessions and they refund the loans at the end of 3 months but keep their profits. (STEP is a collaboration project amongst Kenyatta University, Leupharna University (Germany), Kenya National Commission for UNESCO, BASF Stiftung (Germany) and German Commission for UNESCO.  Courtesy of UNESCO Regional office, arrangements are underway to introduce STEP at the Kenyan counties effective this year. 12. Recognitions:  2007 – By Kenyatta University on Performance Contracting  2007 – By Kenyatta University on the efforts towards formation of Federation of Traditional Games and Sports (KFTGS)  2007 – , Uganda  2010 – Kenyatta University as a Key Note Speaker  2010 – Kenyatta University for organizing successfully the 7th Edition of East African Universities Games.  2010 – Kenyatta University for successful bid, winning and organizing of the 17th Biennial International Society of Comparative Physical Education and Sports (ISCPES) Conference  2013 – Mount Kenya University as a Key Note Speaker 13. Scholarships, Project funding and collaborations / Partnerships: Have established and sustained numerous competitive international and local funding through vibrant collaborations / partnerships; for example,  1987 – 4th All African Games, Diploma of Service  2005 – OSSREA (headquartered in Ethiopia)  2005 – University of Dar es Salaam  2006 – Makerere University, Uganda  2007 – KAAD (Germany);Was awarded a currently ongoing Research Grant by the German based organization, Katholischer Akademischer Auslaender-Dienst (KAAD) for a research project entitled, “The Traditional Games of the Maasai of Kenya: A Cultural- Educational Appraisal”. Objective: Audio-visual documentation of Maasai games for a possible formalization. 2007 – UNESCO Consultancy; appointed as a Consultant by the UNESCO to initiate, co-ordinate and document a research report entitled, “PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS (PES) IN KENYA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO TEACHER–TRAINING COLLEGES: CURRENT STATUS, CHALLENGES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT”  2008 – International Military Sports Council  2008 – International Society of Comparative Physical Education and Sports (ISCPES)  2009 – Manitoba (Canada)

Since 2005, have successfully served as the External Examiner / Visiting Professor / a Consultant for 4 Universities within the East Africa region and beyond namely: University of Dar es salaam, University of Nairobi, Kyambogo University (Uganda), Kigali Institute of Education (Rwanda), Makerere University and University of Benin. 20. In 2011, I served as the Vice Chairman deputizing DVC (Administration) in successfully organizing and hosting the 2011 East African Universities Games at Kenyatta University. 21.
