2017 Football FUNdamentalz 52 Football & Cheer Camp June 13, 2017 – June 16, 2017 Letter from the Coach

On behalf of Football FUNdamentalz 52, and the entire staff, I would like to welcome each of you to the 2017 Football FUNdamentalz 52 Football & Cheer Camp.

This year’s theme is, “Bridging the Gap Between the Police and the Community”

Football FUNdamentalz 52 was established in 2013, with a vision of doing small football camps in the Warnersville community. The idea was formed to let the kids of Greensboro know some of the names of the football players that came before them, and their stories. After an alarming response, we knew that this was going to be much bigger than anticipated.

With the help of local NFL and Arena Football Players, and Cheerleaders, we were able to provide coaching, and mentoring on a much larger scale. Now, we have local law enforcement, city officials, tailors, mentors, youth football organizations, youth cheer organizations, and most importantly, educators from all school levels, working with the kids.

By the end of the camp, our goal is to make sure that each and every child has grown, in some form, through football, and cheer.

Again, I would like to welcome you to the 2017 Football FUNdamentalz 52 Football & Cheer Camp. I hope you enjoy!

Sincerely,

Coach Earl Rose Founder MISSION STATEMENT

Football FUNdamentalz 52 is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that offers instructional football and cheer for youth of all ages. Not only do we teach football and cheer fundamentals, we teach success in a team environment, social skills, discipline, and responsibility. We also focus on fitness, proper nutrition, sportsmanship, and leadership skills, all while ensuring the kids are having FUN.

Coach Rose is dedicated to promoting the core values of the Organization. Wins and losses are not a priority for him; developing life skills and individual character is what guides his coaching decisions and actions. He leads by example in both words and actions on and off the football field. Rose accepts responsibility for the development of our athletes as both players and persons while under his direction. Our goal is to be an organization that not only develops football players, and cheerleaders that parents and coaches will be proud of, but also guide our athletes to becoming positive contributors to any team they choose to be a part of, and more importantly society. 2017 “Bridging the Gap Between the Police and the Community”

As children, we all learned police officers were our friends and would always be there to protect and serve us and our communities. The theme for 2017, will be Bridging the Gap Between the Community and Police. In the wake of multiple murders of unarmed men, Black Lives Matter movement, and the senseless acts against innocent Police Officers that have taken place nationwide, our young men and women will be able to hear from our community leaders. A platform will be available for leaders from the city of Greensboro to share open dialog and address issues with participants and parents. Our guests will include Nancy Vaughn, Mayor of the city of Greensboro, Yvonne Johnson, Mayor Pro Tem, Greensboro Police Chief, James Hinson, and numerous members of the Greensboro City Council. This involvement will give the police officers an opportunity to address their positions as officers in the city, hopefully helping to ease the mind of parents and young children who themselves are now afraid to either walk or drive in their own neighborhoods, due to fear of being arrested or killed at the hands of a police officer who is ill-equipped, and ill-informed with how to address young men who look like themselves. Expectantly, this discussion will allow the young men, and young women to walk away with a renewed sense of pride, confidence, and security in the local police officers who are hired to protect them and their community overall.

“Welcome to the Triad” In 2014, the introductory year of the camp, participants and coaching staff wore the colors of the Miami Dolphins football team, the favorite team of Coach Rose. It was during this time that another Greensboro native, former Saint Louis Cardinals football player, Joe Bostic and Supreme Court Judge, Stuart Albright were in attendance as distinguished guests. Additionally, Coach Rose invited coaches from his years of playing both little league and high school football to speak. Coach Jerry Shoffner from Warnersville Recreation Center and Coach Jeff Smouse of Grimsley High School spoke regarding their years of coaching Rose as a young person and the lifelong relationships that developed from that time onward. Also, in attendance was former Dudley High School Football Coach, Willie Young, and former Grimsley High School Track Coach, Russell Woodward. An added highlight of the camp in 2014 was when the coaching staff took on the task of playing a scrimmage game against mothers of the camp participants. One of the mothers, without hesitation, placed a 330 pound, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and San Diego Chargers Defensive Lineman, and 15-year veteran, Reuben Davis on his back. What an awesome sight that was to behold.

He received numerous accolades for his achievements as a standout athlete. He is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Antonio Stevenson is also among the elite eight named to be inducted into the Class of 2010 Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools Hall of Fame on May 7, 2010.

In 2000, Mr. Stevenson started an organization called, MY BROTHER’S SECOND CHANCE. Through his program, young men are learning to set goals, escape gang activity, complete high school, and more importantly, attend college.

Along with MY BROTHER’S SECOND CHANCE, Antonio is a Motivational Speaker, Mentor, and travels the entire United States as a Staff Developer.

Currently living in Clemmons, North Carolina, he is the proud father of three daughters Kali, Sydney, and Lydia. In addition, he volunteers with many youth programs throughout Winston-Salem which consist of Bridging the Gap a Winston-Salem Urban League program, and works with Gang Spearing Committee, along side the Winston Salem Police Department. 2016 CAMPER OF THE YEAR BREVIN ALLEN

Brevin is a rising senior at Northeast Guilford High School. He has attended the Football FUNdamentalz 52 Football since we started in 2014.

On the football field, he starts at , and also plays Tight End, when needed, where he wreaks havoc on opposing teams, every Friday night. In the winter, you can find him on the hardwood, as a dominating force in the paint, as the starting Power Forward for the basketball team.

As of now, he is undecided on what college he plans to attend, however, being heavily recruited by so many schools, he’ll have his pick. Currently, his choice would be University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, or Wake Forest University, where he plans on majoring in Sports Medicine. Both schools have shown quite a bit of interest in the 6’4, 225 pound senior.

Living out his dream of playing in the NFL, or NBA, is high on his list, however, a long career in Sports Medicine, is in the cards, if he decides to end his playing career.

Congrats, Brevin, and we look forward to seeing great things from you! ¼ PAGE AD ¼ PAGE AD $100 $100

Camp participants, coaches, and staff were all decked out in Camo t- shirts adorned with the Football FUNdamentalz 52 logo. Active- duty members of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines were each present and conducted physical training exercises from each of their military branches, respectively for the camp participants and coaches. This was an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Each year, football players all across the country, wear “PINK”, in October, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. However, many of them have no idea what the true meaning is. So, in 2016, the theme for the Football FUNdamentalz 52 Camp was “Breast Cancer Awareness”. The camp participants paid homage to individuals who had been affected personally, or who had family members or friends affected by the dreadful disease. Coaching staff and participants wore black and pink t- shirts to display their support for this cause. This turned into more of a family affair and an emotional event as many learned that there were individuals, participants and staff alike of whom they were not aware were dealing with issues surrounding Breast cancer. The highlight of the week was having 2, Breast Cancer Survivors come in and speak with the children and parents, on the opening night, from the ALIGHT FOUNDATION. Through this awareness, the Football FUNdamentalz 52 organization continues to drive their message though all of the players and families.

Also in 2016, Football FUNdamentalz 52 began a offering Cheer Camp for the young ladies. “We felt that young ladies needed us just as much as the young men.
