During this period, I have worked in some 20 countries on six continents on long- and short-term consultancies for organizations such as WWF International, WWF Malaysia, Fauna & Flora International, Sea Turtle Conservancy, National Geographic Society and Museo Goeldi Brasil. Much of my focus since 1981 has been in the Indian Ocean, especially in Seychelles, where I have resided since 1995, having served as special consultant to the Ministry of Environment for more than 10 years where I initiated and have coordinated more than 20 long term on-going sea turtle monitoring programmes. My research has involved nesting and foraging ecology, population status, growth rates, migrations, genetic phylogeny, and human utilization of sea turtles.
