As the days of July dwindled down to a precious few for the Fordham University football players, thoughts turned to the start of summer camp on August 2. But before camp commenced, the Rams had a few final days of their summer conditioning program and for the second straight year they decided to utilize the time to help raise funds for their Uplifting Athletes chapter.

Uplifting Athletes is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit organiza- tion that aligns with rare disease research. There are currently 21 Uplifting Athletes chapters nationwide including Penn State, Notre Dame, Boston College, Colgate, and Princeton. FORDHAM NAMES TEAM CAPTAINS: Seniors Carlton Koonce, Jake Rodriques, Steven Tapia and Ian Williams have been named 2013 Fordham University football team captains it was announced by head coach Joe Moorhead, who served as a captain for Fordham as a senior in 1995. Koonce will serve as a captain for the second straight year.

FORMER RAM ISA ABDUL-QUDDUS ON NEW ORLEANS SAINTS ROSTER: Former Ram defensive back Isa Abdul- Quddus is about to start his third year with the New Orleans Saints. Abdul-Quddus signed with the Saints as a free agent prior to the 2011 season. He appeared in 15 games in 2012, after appearing in all 16 games as a rookie, making 45 total tackles, 33 solo, intercepting two passes and breaking up seven others. Abdul-Quddus, who was named Second Team Preseason All-Patriot League by Phil Steele’s College Football Preview, closed out his Fordham career leading the 2010 squad with 78 tackles, 56 of those solo, and he recorded six pass breakups and forced three fumbles. He tied for the Patriot League lead in forced fumbles/game (0.27) and was eleventh in the League in tackles/game (7.1). He opened season with a career-high 14 total tackles, ten solo, while also forcing a fumble at Bryant. Over his career, Abdul-Quddus, who was a two-year starter in the defensive backfield, had 193 total tackles, 134 solo, in- cluding 12 for loss and three sacks. He also amassed ten pass deflections and three interceptions. Abdul- Quddus tied a school record with three interceptions in a game at Cornell in 2009.
