V4 Heritage Academy 2018

9th Summer Training Course in Management of the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Sites in V4 Countries, Kraków – Wrocław – Świdnica, , 9–15 Jluy 2018

Project financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland and organised within the frame of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.

Since 2009 the International Cultural Centre in Krakow, in cooperation with its Visegrad partners, has organised summer educational programme dedicated to the management of the UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Sites in the region once a year. In 2018 the programme is planned to take place in Poland between 9th and 15th July. The one-week- long educational project will focus on the multicultural heritage of the Lower Region in Poland and especially on the Churches of Peace in Świdnica and , two outstanding wooden constructions built during the second half of the 17th century as a result of the Thirty Years’ War. Both being memorial sites and representing unique types of constructions the Churches of Peace were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2001. The course will not only examine the way of their management and conservation but will also focus on the issues of migration and population exchange in Silesia in the post WWII years. The 2018 programme is organised within the frame of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. This is why it is addressed to the group of thirty emerging heritage professionals not only from the V4 countries but also from Germany and . The recruitment process for Czech candidates is organised by the Ministry of Culture of Czech Republic; for Slovak candidates by the National Board of the Slovak Monuments, and for Hungarian candidates by the Cultural Heritage Department of the Prime Minister’s Office of Hungary. The International Cultural Centre is responsible for the recruitment of the participants from Poland, Germany and Ukraine. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.

Participants’ profile: There is no age restriction, however, the organisational bodies will prefer emerging heritage professionals (between 25 and 40 years old) trained and involved in heritage-related fields such as: architecture, urban planning, constructional engineering, archaeology, sociology, cultural heritage, anthropology, ethnology, ethnography, economy, history, art history, communication, law, tourism, natural and cultural heritage, geography, international relations.
