Annual Report 2007

BOYS & GIRLS Dear friends, 2007 was a year of remarkable change and growth for Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver (BGCMD). The theme of this report is Your Chance to Change the World and in the following pages, you’ll read about how BGCMD and the amazing young people we serve are making their mark. Through new Club openings, the Darrent Williams Memorial Teen Center project, remarkable H E daily outcomes, and outstanding youth achievement, Boys & Girls Clubs are changing the world, one child at a time. Our story in 2007 is one of optimism and expansion, leadership, and development.

T This year we will serve more than 8,000 young people a year in our eight Metro-area Clubs, providing more than one million CLUB hours of guidance and support. If only we had 8,000 pages to tell you each of their stories…. We serve the whole child, providing an environment where creativity thrives and leaders are born. Many of our members are the first in their families to graduate from high school and go on to college. Many are young artists, with an outlet to express themselves on paper, canvas, or a computer monitor. Some are outstanding athletes, working towards college scholarships, IS FAR MORE some are committed volunteers, giving back to our community themselves. THAN YOUR AVERAGE Every day is a busy one in our Clubs. To drop in, one never knows if they’ll find a game of basketball in the gym, a volunteer teaching printmaking in the art room, a local sports hero giving homework assistance in the learning center, a group of AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM... volunteers painting and cleaning, six-year-olds shooting pool, or giddy teenagers making Valentines. Our Clubs are amazing places for children and teens—and we cannot do it without you, our friends and donors. The time you give mentoring, painting, listening, dreaming, and celebrating with our members is invaluable. Thank you for your investment of time and financial resources and for sharing our story with your friends and family. Thank you for helping us inspire a generation of deserving young people to change the world.

Best regards,
