Nespresso announced their support of Emirates in April 2011 and is proud to be an Elite Sponsor to the Kiwi team that already has a long and established America’s Cup history – two times winners of the America’s Cup and the first team from a country outside of the USA to successfully win the Cup in 1995, and then defend in 2000. Emirates Team New Zealand is a successful, performancedriven team – much the same as Nespresso. Both have a passion fuelled by pioneering spirit and innovation.

“We are pleased to continue our involvement in the world of sailing and extremely proud to be part of Emirates Team New Zealand as they challenge for the 34th America’s Cup in 2013,” commented Richard Girardot, CEO Nestlé Nespresso S.A. “As the longest-standing America’s Cup team, their experience, expertise and innovative mindset, driven by a fighting team spirit is an inspiration for Nespresso and our employees. We wish Grant Dalton and the Team much success in the quest for the ultimate cup.”

Nespresso’s support of Emirates Team New Zealand will build on the company’s history with the America’s Cup and sailing: “We believe that we can mount a credible challenge which will have a very good chance of winning the America’s Cup,” said Grant Dalton, Emirates Team New Zealand managing director. “That’s our mission and that is the expectation of our sponsors, partners and the people of New Zealand. It is an expectation that every member of this team is determined to fulfill."

Nespresso began their association with the sport of sailing as co-sponsor of Team Alinghi for the 32nd America’s Cup campaign between 2004-2007, as well as being the Official Coffee to the event. In 2010, Nespresso and Wally, the world leader in yachting innovation, launched the Nespresso Cup, an international regatta exclusively for the Wally Class in Portofino, , bringing together some of the world’s most respected world-class sailors, to deliver one of the most aesthetically pleasing sailing regattas.

Nespresso and Emirates Team New Zealand will be present at the America’s Cup World Series in Venice from the 15th to the 20th May, 2012. Nespresso sailing Ambassador and Italian sailing legend, Francesco de Angelis, will bring his knowledge and experience to Nespresso’s association with Emirates Team New Zealand in Venice and until the end of the 34th America’s Cup.
