The Sun Devils lead the Pac in runs scored (152), hits (193), RBIs (147), home runs (27) and total bases (313). On defense, ASU is leading the Pac-10 in opposing batting average (.182), wins (22) and doubles allowed (7) and batters struck out looking (54). 2007 Sun Devil Softball Week 5 • Mar. 5-11 2007 Page 3 2007 NFCA POLL Sun Devils to watch The Amateur Softball Association, the National Governing Body MARCH 7 of Softball in the United States, has selected its initial “Watch Rank Record School List” for the 6th Annual USA Softball National Collegiate Player of 1 20-0 Tennessee the Year Award. This award, which is considered one of the most prestigious honors in women’s collegiate softball, is designed to 2 14-3 Arizona* recognize outstanding athletic achievement by female collegiate 3 22-2 Arizona State* softball players across the country. Already on the list for this sea- son are junior pitcher, Katie Burkhart and sophomore First-Team T4 19-2 Texas A&M All-American, Kaitlin Cochran. The pair was also named to the ESPN.com Pre-season All-American List. T4 21-0 Alabama 6 23-0 Oklahoma At the Helm: Head Coach Clint Myers enters his second season as the leader of Sun Devil 7 15-5 Northwestern Softball after a 2006 campaign that saw the Sun Devils set offensive records in: wins with 47 (former record was 46 set in 2002), runs with 307 (former 8 17-3 Texas record was 294 in 1996), home runs 66 (former record was 45 set in 2003), 9 20-1 Michigan RBIs with 285 (former record was 259 in 1996), walks with 228 (former record was 180 in 2000) and strikeouts pitched with 666 (former record was 415 in 10 21-3 LSU 2004 and 1999). Arizona State's Katie Burkhart was named Pitcher of the Year, OREGON freshman Jennifer Salling was named Newcomer of the Year and ARIZONA center fielder Caitlin Lowe received Defensive Player of the Year honors. Coach of the Year was awarded to Arizona's Mike Candrea, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Cochran, a sophomore from Yorba Linda, Calif., led the Sun Devils to their best Conference finish in 16 years. Arizona State was 13-8 in the Pac-10 and finished runner-up for the first time since 1991 and much was due to Cochran's prowess at the plate. The sophomore leads the nation in batting average entering the postseason with a .506 average. Cochran ranks first in the Pac-10 in batting average, slugging percentage (.931), on-base percentage (.621), runs scored (70), hits (88), home runs (18), total bases (162), and walks (47).

Senior pitcher Stacey Nelson, the Academic All-America® of the Year in the University Division, and senior catcher Kristina Hilberth represented the Gators on the Academic All-America® University Division first team. They have led Florida to a 63-3 record and a matchup against Washington in the national finals which start on Monday, June 1. A first team Academic All-America® pick for the second year in a row, she has a 41-3 record with a 0.48 E.R.A. in 2009.
