Coaching Director Jimmy McAlister comments that, “We’re excited that so many excellent coaches see the incredible potential of this program and have chosen to join our staff. They come from many backgrounds, from playing professionally, to high accomplishments as youth coaches, to younger coaches who clearly have a tremendous future in the game. We’re building a collaborative staff where everybody brings a unique contribution to the table.” Shawn Farrell Shawn brings a youth coaching resume that includes seven years with Emerald City Football Club. Farrell was a member of the Sonoma State men’s soccer program. He was awarded the Emerald City FC Coach of the Year in 2006. He is a USSF National “C” licensed coach. Farrell is Seattle University’s Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Rules Education. Before entering the world of collegiate athletics, Farrell was a practicing attorney, with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington. “It goes without saying that I am excited to be working with Shawn once again. There are very few people in this soccer community of ours that can match Shawn's combination of integrity, knowledge of the game and passion for teaching children. Shawn's goal is to have a positive impact in the lives of his players and, knowing many of his ex-players parents and the affinity that they share for him, he is better than most in this regard. Seattle United is lucky to have him.” -Jason Farrell. Seattle United Technical Director Kyle Rodeheaver Kyle is a product of the Texas youth soccer community. Rodeheaver has over 15 years playing experience from youth through semi-professional. He played top-level club soccer in Dallas for 8 years where he was also a 3-year letterman, captain and recipient of all-state honors at Crowley High School. Rodeheaver was a member of the Texas ODP state team for 3 years and was an ODP Region III Alternate 1 year. He went onto play collegiate soccer at both St Louis University and Concordia University and played semi-professional soccer in both Italy and Japan. His coaching resume includes 4 years as Men’s Assistant Coach for Concordia University (Austin, TX), 2 years as youth coach at both Westside United Select Soccer Program and Highline Premier Soccer Club. Rodeheaver’s Boys U-12 team won the 2009 Washington State Challenge Cup championship. He is a USSF “D” licensed coach. He holds an NSCAA National Diploma, an NSCAA Regional Goalkeeping Diploma and is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with the American College of Sports Medicine. “Kyle has a tremendous future in the game. He has all the ingredients to be a great coach and leader at Seattle United.” -Jimmy McAlister, Seattle United Director of Coaching George Singh George played professionally two years with the USL-Division 1 Seattle Sounders. He also logged six years with the Hibernian Saints, playing in the Pacific Coast Soccer League. His youth coaching resume includes over 5 years at area premier youth soccer clubs, including Evergreen Soccer Club, Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer club, as well as his current club, Highline Premier Soccer Club. Singh is a member of the staff at the Coerver Coaching. “I have known George for many years as a player and a coach. He has always impressed me with his professional attitude and approach towards skills development.” -Jimmy McAlister, Seattle United Director of Coaching About Seattle United Seattle United is the official unified advanced development (select and premier) club of SYSA. SYSA comprises sixteen member clubs that oversee soccer programs and a variety of play options for approximately 13,000 players in Seattle and Shoreline. Seattle United brings together all high-level premier “citywide” and regional select teams in Seattle and Shoreline under one club organization. In its inaugural 2010 season, all SYSA U11-U14 premier/select teams will be playing under the new, collaborative club. Any current SYSA premier/select teams U15 or older that wish to join Seattle United in its inaugural 2010 season may elect to do so. This club represents an exciting new approach for Seattle’s youth soccer players, coaches and families. Seattle United’s core philosophy is one of collaboration and inclusion. The club organization is structured to provide the highest quality full service soccer experience for all its players, families, teams and coaches. Seattle United offer both high-level premier “citywide” teams and numerous select teams (grouped by geography) and provides top competitive play and training opportunities using regional options, seamless vertical integration, player mobility, and good governance principles. With collaboration and professionalism at every level, Seattle United is committed to developing youth soccer players to their fullest potential and to support this process throughout their development. Over the past 12 months, SYSA and Seattle United introduced the very popular Development Academy which to date has trained some 300 Under-8 to Under-13 players. The Development Academy and the recently launched Center of Excellence are prime examples of Seattle United’s advanced training opportunities that are professionally coached, high quality, age appropriate, and can facilitate a smooth transition to select/premier teams for all capable and interested players. In addition, Seattle United’s governing board has been working with the state’s youth soccer leadership to ensure a smooth transition for our teams and players.
