Adorno’s theory of the aesthetic, this dissertation seeks to develop a poetics of criticism that takes account of the philosophy of the non-identical in subjective experience. As the subversion of the positivist and subjectivist tendencies of identity thinking, Adorno’s negative dialectic is read here in parallel with Woolf’s work as an example of a discourse that preserves the particularity of experience.

November 2007 Newsletter ------------------------------------ Yesterday & Today Records 255A Church St Parramatta NSW 2150 Phone/fax: (02) 96333585 Email: [email protected] Web: www.yesterdayandtoday.com.au --------------------------------- Post 1 cd $2/2cd $3/ 3-4 cds $6.00 1 dvd $4.50 2-3 dvds $6.00 ------------------------------------------- The year ends and there are so many great releases herein that I’d almost declare it the best newsletter I’ve had. It may very well be the last as well, but as I used to say in my previous career “nothing is certain on the waterfront” and nothing is certain here as well. It has been just shy of 19 years and it doesn’t get easier. It is like the old adage “between a rock and a hard place” in that there have never been a better lot of artists than there are now: Dale Watson, Justin Trevino, Amber Digby, Ron Williams etc yet the major label music scene is, for a lack of a better word stuffed. Yet some people are impossible to convince. Some people refuse to take anything but the CMT route. It wouldn’t matter if I said Ron Williams’ is the best cd I have had this year and is right up there with the best ever of Mark Chesnutt, Keith Whitley and co. If you watch CMT and enjoy it then I will sell you a share in the Sydney Harbour Bridge. If you watch it and question its merit we have the answers for you. Please read on. ----------------------------------- Ron Williams – “Texas Style” $32 If anything beats this as album of the year I will be very surprised.

Did anyone else undertake the NaPoWriMo writing challenge this April? Congrats to those who completed (or attempted) thirty poems for thirty days. This was the first year I ever officially completed a poem every single day of April and it was taxing, to say the least! I’ve been working hard at Pink.Girl.Ink. Press these past few months, especially with components like the page layout, utilizing links, and creating our weekly poetry prompts. I love how everything is developing and coming along with the press and the ezine. Though, if there’s anything you’d like to see more (or less) of, please drop us an email with any suggestions for improvement.

  • 1. Letter to Amrit Kaur 2. Letter to Lilavati Asar
    1. LETTER TO AMRIT KAUR SEGAON, WARDHA, Octorber 21, 1936 MY DEAR REBEL, You have certainly provided me with excellent material for Harijan.1 Mahadev will see your letter. I shall make judicious use of portions of it. You must then do a little propaganda work, even write to the papers and invite other women to do likewise. If you women would only realize your dignity and privilege, and make full use of it for mankind, you will make it much better than it is. But man has delighted in enslaving you and you have proved willing slaves till the slaves and the slave-holders have become one in the crime of degrading humanity. My special function from childhood, you might say, has been to make woman realize her dignity. I was once slave- holder myself but Ba proved an unwilling slave and thus opened my eyes to my mission. Her task was finished. Now I am in search of a woman who would realize her mission. Are you that woman, will you be one? If Shummy will be happy and healthy going to Europe and won’t go without you, why should you not accompany him? No time for more. Gave you a long letter yesterday.2 Love. TYRANT [PS.] Yes, you should write to Natesan without doubt. From the original: C.W. 3597. Courtesy: Amrit Kaur. Also G.N. 6406 2. LETTER TO LILAVATI ASAR October 21, 1936 CHI. LILA, I have been thinking of you, though I have been unable to wirte to you of late. Are you aware, or aren’t you, that you have taken upon yourself a much greater burden by asking to be released from the conditions? You do not intend to become a self-indulgent person.

  • August – All for Jesus Always
All for Jesus always August Romans, 1 Corinthians and Psalms There is no one like Jesus to me! 2 August “Christ, our Righteousness” During this month we’ll read through and learn from the books of Romans, 1 Corinthians, and Psalms. 3 1 August: God’s kindness... Pray “Lord, thank You for Your kindness toward me and others.” Read Romans 2 and Psalm 65-67 Think + write In Psalm 66 David proclaims what wonderful things God had done for him. With him, I too can say: God has ………………………...my life (v9a) God has ……………………………………..from slipping! (v9b) God ………………………...me (v10a) God ………………………….me like silver (v10b) God brought me to a place of ………………………………(v12b) God ………………………….my voice in prayer (v19) God did not withhold His love from me! (v20). How wonderful!! I read in Psalm 67 that when (1) God is gracious to US and (2) blesses US, and (3) makes His face shine upon US… then His ways will be known on earth and His salvation (His “saving health” - KJV) among all nations! From this I learn that…………………………………………… ……………………………………………………………………………. ……………………………………………………………………………. ……………………………………………………………………………. When God speaks about “saving health”, I see that true health is not just the absence of disease or infirmity, no, it is a state of complete physical, psychological, spiritual and social well-being. Health and salvation can- not be separated. When I am not spiritually well, I am sick! When my mind is not pure, I am sick! When I live in sin, I am sick! When I am selfish or self-centered, I am sick! But God says (through John): “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well” (3 John 2).
