Plagiarism Detector Description: The Plagiarism Detector is a software/tool capable of detecting plagiarism in a file or content. The application is being built on Apache Solr an open source enterprise search platform to provide fault tolerance and distributed indexing. Also, Apache Zookeeper is used to provide centralized service for maintaining configuration information, providing distributed synchronization services on different machines within the server. Projects Handled: C/C++ 1. Text Processing Application Description: The Aim of the project is to design a text processing sub-module for a plagiarism application. The application takes a file from the user to process and deploy and finds the list of tokens, total number of words and their frequencies as well as anagrams calculated from the selected file. 2. A Simple Shell Description: The goal of the project is to design a simple shell/parser on CentOs system using C++ and flex software program. The application support all the internal shell commands as well. Projects Handled: JAVA 1. Lottery Generator Description: The Aim of the project is to design an application in JAVA capable of generating random lottery tickets. The application provides the user to play from two different lottery ticket generation phases. Also, it stores the history of users in different files on the system. The users can select from the previous tickets, make the desired changes or use a new ticket to play the game. Projects Handled: Shell Script 1. ATM Simulator Description: Main aim in developing ATM Simulator is to provide user with the facilities to perform Credit and Debit operations in an ATM Machine. The user can access and print the total balance as well as account history for the last five transactions. 2. Image Conversion Description: The proposed application is designed using shell script and NetPBM (a graphics conversion utility package) to perform manipulations to convert one image format into other. The applications lets the user define the size, width, sharpness and color of the output file as well. Academic Projects Projects Handled: Android 1. Android Application on Reverse Image Search using image as a query Description: The Aim of the project is to design an application using Content Based Image Retrieval technique that analyzes the actual contents of an image and searches for other images with similar visual features such as colors, shapes, and patterns and allows users to discover content related to a specific sample image, popularity of an image, discover manipulated versions and derivative works. Payroll Management Automation using C++ Description: Main aim in developing Payroll Management System is to provide an easy way not only to automate all functionalities of an organization, but also to provide full functional reports to top management of organization with the finest of details. The Core purpose of designing “Payroll Management System” is to manage the task related to the accounting and to reduce time to search for salary of appropriate employees in an organizational view. Projects Handled: JAVA 1. Desktop Application on Image features extracting Description: The project works by matching images present in the database with the query image given as input to the system’s graphical user interface. The actual processing takes up by following the image retrieval algorithms based on color feature. Results demonstrate the similarity between images using Euclidean distance for similarity matching. 2. Distributed Chat application using Java Remote Method Invocation Description: Implementation of a Java client for a chat server which allows clients to broadcast messages to other clients that have joined in the chat session. The twist is that the chat server is effectively distributed among all the clients that are currently running, with a central server used mainly to bootstrap a client that wants to join the chat session. All communication is done via remote procedure calls, using Java Remote Method Invocation. Projects Handled: HTML & PHP 1. Fox Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Blacksburg, VA 24061 1 Abstract The Digital Library Research Laboratory (DLRL) has collected over 1.5 billion tweets and millions of webpages for the Integrated Digital Event Archiving and Library (IDEAL) and Global Event Trend Archive Research (GETAR) projects [6]. We are using a 21 node Cloudera Hadoop cluster to store and retrieve this information. One goal of this project is to expand the data collection to include more web archives and geospatial data beyond what previously had been collected. Another important part in this project is optimizing the current system to analyze and allow access to the new data. To accomplish these goals, this project is separated into 6 parts with corresponding teams: Classification (CLA), Collection Management Tweets (CMT), Collection Management Webpages (CMW), Clustering and Topic Analysis (CTA), Front-end (FE), and SOLR. This report describes the work completed by the SOLR team which improves the current searching and storage system. We include the general architecture and an overview of the current system. We present the part that Solr plays within the whole system with more detail. We talk about our goals, procedures, and conclusions on the improvements we made to the current Solr system. This report also describes how we coordinate with other teams to accomplish the project at a higher level. Additionally, we provide manuals for future readers who might need to replicate our experiments.
