Our industry partners Network Rail are undertaking improvement works to the railway between Crediton and Barnstaple from Saturday 17 November to Sunday 2 December 2012.

The railway is being closed during this time to allow Network Rail to lay new track at Lapford, Umberleigh and also between Eggesford and Portsmouth Arms. This new track will improve the ride quality for our trains and will also reduce future maintenance costs. The track renewals form a key part of the longer term aim to reduce journey times on this route.

Summary of service alterations

Train services will continue to run between Exmouth, Exeter Central, Exeter St Davids and Crediton. Due to the extensive nature of the work being carried out we will be unable to run trains between Crediton and Barnstaple so rail replacement buses will be in operation between these and intermediate stations. Full times for all of these services are shown from page 6 in this leaflet.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience these changes to your journey may cause.

3 Assisted travel

In line with our Disabled Persons Protection Policy we aim to provide suitable transport that is accessible to the needs of our disabled passengers. When a rail replacement bus is unsuitable we will provide alternative means of transport at no additional cost to the passenger. If you know your travel plans in advance you can book assistance through our dedicated team. Travelling on our rail replacement buses

When travelling on rail replacement services from staffed stations, please buy your tickets from ticket machines or from the station ticket office as usual. When boarding rail replacement buses at unstaffed stations, please buy your tickets on arrival at your destination or when transferring to train services at Crediton.

Please note that we will be unable to carry large items of luggage or conventional cycles on our rail replacement buses.
