(b) For ALL Masses: attendees are expected to be seated in church 5 minutes before Mass begins in order for everyone to spiritually prepare for Mass (including our volunteer Stewards & Fr. Nicholas). Booked seats WILL NOT be reserved beyond 10 minutes prior to Mass. Second Collection. Thank you to those who gave so generously to last weekend’s second collection for Peter’s Pence which raised £185.77 (Holy Spirit £68.90 & St. Paul’s £116.87) Bank Closure. With the closure of the Cleckheaton branch of HSBC (the bank used by the Diocese of Leeds) the nearest branch is at Brighouse. In light of this parishioners are once more invited to give consideration to the use of a Standing Order in favour of either of our churches. A Standing Order Mandate can be downloaded from our webpages or requested from Fr. Nicholas, & returned to him upon comple- tion by the donor. Returning to Church. Encouragement is given to those who are hesitant about returning to Holy Mass. Please do think about coming to one of our weekday Masses to ‘dip your toe in the water’! We’ve been open for a full year this weekend & continue to retain a high standard of good discipline in regard to keeping people safe. Church Cleaners. More help to clean our churches would be appreciated ! It is proposed that a ’Household’ i.e. two people or more living together or in a ‘Bubble’ could offer their services. If you can help please contact Fr. Nicholas. Booking Seats at Mass. (a) It is advisable to book a seat (on-line / by phone) if you are intending to attend a weekend Mass. (b) The obligation to attend Holy Mass currently remains suspended. Spiritual Communion. If you are unable to come to Mass in person please join us through a time of prayer & reflection at home. A prayer to help you benefit from Spiritual Communion is: At your feet, O my Jesus, I prostrate myself and offer you repentance of my contrite heart, which is humbled in its nothingness and in your holy presence. I adore you in the Sacrament of your love, the ineffable Eucharist. I desire to receive you into the poor dwelling that my heart offers you. While waiting for the happiness of sacramental communion, I wish to possess you in spirit. Come to me, O my Jesus, since I for my part, am coming to you ! May your love embrace my whole being in life and in death. I believe in you, I hope in you, I love you. Amen. (Raphael, Cardinal Merry del Val). Sacrament of Reconciliation. For all who desire to Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at this time & are unable to do so due to our social restrictions it is possible to offer a Perfect Act of Contri- tion: My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Saviour Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In His name, my God, have mercy. Amen. Sacraments of First Holy Communion & Confirmation. Congratulations to Aoife, Leighton, Lexie, Mia, Ethen, Joshua, Luke (Monday), Annabelle, Ava, Fanni, Heidi, Keziah, Laura, Magenta, Summer (Tuesday), Connie, Freya, Isla, Harvey, Joseph, Leo, Michael, Thomas M. & Thomas W. This week children in Year 6 at Holy Spirit School will be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings at Holy Spirit Church. These celebrations are for family members / groups only in order to keep everyone as safe as possible. Please pray for these young people & their families at this wonderful time on their spiritual journey. N.B. A gentle reminder that these families should be doing their best to attend Holy Mass in support of the children’s preparation for this important Sacrament. In addition to these celebrations Fr. Nicholas continues to celebrate Holy Mass with individual Class Groups & their staff. Sick Visits. Currently Fr. Nicholas can only undertake emergency & urgent house-calls on request of families. Heckmondwike Petanque Club, Algernon Firth Park, Heckmondwike, WF16 0HH Heckmondwike is very nearly on the A62 from Huddersfield to Leeds. The park is on the main A638 road which goes from The Swan Traffic lights into the town centre locally but navigation is difficult as Heckmondwike has a complex one way system. If you can find Morrisons petrol station or the Medical Centre there is a roundabout opposite the entrance and Firth Park is a turning off that. By car From the North West. Leave the M62 at junction 25. Turn right towards Dewsbury. After about 1 mile bear left at the Dumb Steeple roundabout/lights onto the A62. Keep going for 3 miles until you pass the Golden Fish chippy on your right. Turn right onto Union Road. Carry on for 1 mile until you reach a roundabout. Turn left into Firth Park. From Leeds or the east. Leave Leeds on A62 or leave M62 at Junction 27 and go past IKEA retail park and through Birstall 6 lane ends traffic lights. Keep going on A62 past Peking Duck then after half a mile just before Plannit Kitchens turn left onto Union Road. Carry on this road for 1 mile until you reach a roundabout. Turn left into Firth Park. By Bus The 209 and the 219 go from Leeds to Heckmondwike. The 221 from Leeds to Mirfield via Heckmondwike. The 229 from Leeds to Huddersfield via Heckmondwike. The 254 goes from Wakefield through Heckmondwike to Leeds The 268 goes from Dewsbury to Bradford via Heckmondwike. Going home. Much easier.

  • May 2021 FOI 2387-21 Drink Spiking
Our ref: 2387/21 Figures for incidents of drink spiking in your region over the last 5 years (year by year) I would appreciate it if the figures can be broken down to the nearest city/town. Can you also tell me the number of prosecutions there have been for the above offences and how many of those resulted in a conviction? Please see the attached document. West Yorkshire Police receive reports of crimes that have occurred following a victim having their drink spiked, crimes such as rape, sexual assault, violence with or without injury and theft. West Yorkshire Police take all offences seriously and will ensure that all reports are investigated. Specifically for victims of rape and serious sexual offences, depending on when the offence occurred, they would be offered an examination at our Sexual Assault Referral Centre, where forensic samples, including a blood sample for toxicology can be taken, with the victim’s consent, if within the timeframes and guidance from the Faculty for Forensic and Legal Medicine. West Yorkshire Police work with support agencies to ensure that all victims of crime are offered support through the criminal justice process, including specialist support such as from Independent Sexual Violence Advisors. BRADFORD & DISTRICT RABBITS GOLF ASSOCIATION WWW.BDRGA.NET B.D.R.G.A. HANDBOOK 2019 BRADFORD & DISTRICT RABBITS GOLF ASSOCIATION The following is an extract from the MINUTES of the inaugural Meeting of the new ASSOCIATION, which was referred to as THE BRADFORD & DISTRICT RABBITS GOLF ASSOCIATION dated 9th April 1948. “Invitations to attend this Meeting had been sent out by a small Committee of the Bradford Moor Golf Club, and the response was very encouraging. There was an attendance of 28 and eleven Clubs were represented as follows:- South Bradford, Bradford Moor, Otley, Cleckheaton, West Bowling, Woodhall Hills, Queensbury, Thornton, East Bierley, West Bradford and Phoenix Park. The Chair was taken by Sam Chippendale Esq. of Bradford Moor Golf Club and he extended a hearty welcome to all the visitors”. There followed a discussion: “Mr Chippendale was asked whether the Association would have the support of the West Riding Rabbits Golf Association as it was felt that such support and approval would be necessary if both Associations were to prosper. The Chairman said that he had the goodwill of the West Riding Rabbits but assured those present that our Association would be a separate entity from that body and would only be affiliated to it. Thereupon a proposal was made by the Cleckheaton Representative, and seconded by the South Bradford Representative that “The Bradford & District Rabbits Golf Association” be, and is hereby formed, and this was carried without opposition. It was agreed by Members of the Association that an ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the Association would be held at a suitable venue on April 30th 1948.” THE BRADFORD & DISTRICT RABBITS GOLF ASSOCIATION CONSTITUTION AND RULES The name of the Association shall be “The Bradford & District Rabbits Golf Association“, affiliated to the Yorkshire Rabbit Golf Association.
